Great HRM for price February 6, 2007 P. Wimpenny 40 out of 40 found this review helpful
This Oregon HRM is a bargain at this price and records an accurate heart rate direct from a chest strap so that you can keep within a safe range of excercise for your age. When you have manually entered your minumum and maximum heart rate (formula given in the instructions) you can set an alarm to warn you when you are under and overperforming in the gym. It also has a stopwatch and cool blue light. Most of these entry level HRTs start at about 30 so I would recommend this. You won't be disappointed.
Excellent March 16, 2007 Colin Clitheroe (Hants) 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
As an ex fitness instructor I can recomend this item, does all you would want and for less than you should expect to pay. Its as good as any I have used in a gym before and its simple to use. One of my best buys.
Cheap - and now I know why October 1, 2007 T. Moss 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
Initially I was very pleased with the set up, a simple to use display and a very sensitive chest-strap that works with the gym machines for the very effective feedback heart rate training. However, as the other reviewer (no relation) mentioned, after a couple of weeks training, the readings were erratic, displaying an unlikely athletic 55bpm when I was a human pool of sweat, or displaying a hyperventilating kitten's heartbeat upon walking up the stairs to the gym. Changing batteries has done nothing. So personally I would recommend you do not buy this product. It is cheap but it is not good value.
Oh dear May 11, 2007 T. P. Cherrett (UK) 22 out of 24 found this review helpful
Seemed to work fine to start with, however after a week or two, started to give very erratic readings. I changed the battery in the chest strap, like they suggested, but it's got worse, the HR display ceases completely afer 30 minutes or so. I suspect sweat is getting into the device. I run 40 or 50 miles a week. Perhaps this HRM is meant for lighter use. In future, I'll go to my local running shop.
Unexpected bonus July 12, 2007 N. Reynolds (Norwich, UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Was surprised when the gym cardio machines read my heart rate from the strap - I didn't need to grip the sensors, or check the monitor on my wrist. Very handy.
