I was fed up with neighbours 2 cats using my back garden & borders as a toilet, so i googled it & ended up on amazon,I was sceptical at first but thought what the heck - worst thing is i end up throwing them at the cats to scare them,these turned up very fast, very well packaged & good instructions.
These worked for me instantly!! i got 2 repellers (battery no adaptor) & they are a lot bigger then what i expected,
I had to play with angle testing as one cat "was" insistant for one day, "was" hehe, my garden is roughly 45/50 foot an 20/25 across. I had to move some pot plants so as to not obscure the range, i made sure center of the sensor was 325mm off the ground an straight (this seemed to work fine) the other is 275mm
I do not know if this effects children - it should not as the mhz sonic range is outside of the human ear range, but if you do have kids over you could just walk over an turn them off before they go out
Plan their defeat...
1) try to keep the signal path unobstructed or aim it & watch it for a while to see if it goes off when it should not (although my huge fuschia does not seem to set it off)
2) you may have to adjust the angle, height or move them, try to cover the entry points of the marks (intruders) test the angles at dusk on yourself, have a beer n take your time - its worth it.
3) i got 4 9v for 5 from woolworths, as this now works i will be investing in a battery charger + Nimh re-chargeable batteries
4) "not my idea i read this" drink lotsa beer/water an wait til its dark an relieve yourself by the entry points or anywhere in the garden, combined with the repellers it will become a no go zone for them (nature says blokes only)
5) If someone is unhappy with the sonic repellers (a cat owner) explain this is the humane way rather then what some people use: rat poison(STRYCHNINE)anti freeze (ethylene glycol)phosperous,Aspirin,Paracetamol, 22 caliber etc...
6) it is not okay for your animal to use my garden as a toilet as you would be unhappy if it were done to you, but then maybe you would find out just how infuriating it becomes then maybe your lack of understanding of empathy can be forgiven.
What a pleasure to walk into or around my garden, i highly recommend this product - bye bye kitty cats...

Had one in the front garden for a while and it's worked. No more buried treasures to find when weeding and none left scenting the air, because the cats lost the art of the burial method. On to the back garden now and maybe, just maybe, the wild birds (that we enjoy) will come back and not be scared off/attacked (new neighbour, multiple cats, get the picture). Hey, maybe we'll not have to worry about visiting kids finding smelly presents when playing.
BTW: I've heard of considerate cat owners, providing cat toilets in their own gardens and that they work if the cat's trained to it, but that seems a rare type of owner. Sadly, most prefer to have their loves go anywhere else, seeing as it's 'only natural'.
Maybe they'd say that a child catching toxoplasmosis or Toxocariasis, is also 'only natural' and a price everyone should be willing to pay, so that they can have cats AND demand that they be free to roam in other peoples gardens. I think NOT!

This really does work, and quickly. However, you do need to ensure the unit has a clear sight of the area being protected. Trees and other plant obstructions were an issue in the first couple of days, resulting in one further deposit. Repositioning has been highly effective. For my next investment - rechargeable batteries, as 9v alkalines are not cheap!

I'll keep this short and sweet.These work great at keeping cats away,and cause them no harm.Especially when they stay out of my garden.Not only did I have them doing their dirt in my garden.They would also just wander into my house if I opened the door to let some air in. Even if I was sitting watching tv.Then give me a dirty look when I chased them out.10 out of 10 for these repellers.A tip is to buy rechargable batteries.(bye bye pussycats!)
Just a little add on to the above after couple of weeks use to let any potential buyer know that there are a few dissapointed cats in my area now.Its really turned into a no go zone for them.And contrary to what a couple of people who shouldnt have been allowed to review these would have you think... the cats that have come near are still alive,and so are my kids.Strange eh!

My husband was fed up with picking up piles of cat poo before he could mow the lawn. Now the (many) neighbourhood cats go elsewhere! (apart from one, preumably deaf). Young children CAN hear the noise and I would get quite cross with a neighbour who refused to deal with this problem. We turn the alarms off whenever children are outside - they are scary enough to keep the cats away by themselves! This also saves the batteries. You need to be careful with other pets as well. The hamster didn't like us testing the alarm inside and things like rabbits kept outside may be affected. For us, it was well worth the money.
