I thought I'd try this machine as it has more variety of coffee i.e. cappuccino, latte etc. I already own a philips senseo, but it doesnt do varied styles/sizes like this.
The dolce gusto is easy to use, easy to clean and very quick. You can have your coffee ready in no time, even if you're one of these people who rushes about in the morning!
The latte macchiato and the cappuccino are very nice, and included in the free starter pack are a latte glass and coffee cup/saucer which are handy.
I havent tried the espresso as yet, but I'm not really an espresso person so I'll leave that for someone else to comment on.
Well worth the money in my opinion!

Whenever I use coffee beans they go stale and lose their flavour before I use it all.I bought this with expectations of a machine that would probably not produce much flavour but would be quick and useful and I was impressed with the demonstration that I saw in store. It looks funky and seemd easy to use. It didn't disappoint- it is a great system. The coffee is hot, flavoursome and it is so easy and quick to use. Excellent cappucinos especially. I would definitely recommend it.

I was given this machine a few days ago and, as a bit of a coffee snob, was prepared not to like coffee made from "pods".
I was pleasantly surprised. It's fun to use and makes a very decent espresso. My only gripe is that I gave up drinking sugar in my tea and coffee when I was a child so the sweetened milk pods for the cappucino and latte macchiato came as a shock.
I hope the manufacturer responds to customer feedback and provides an alternative milk pod for the very many coffee drinkers without a sweet tooth.
If these pods existed already I would have given the machine five stars.

Well I think you can tell by the previous reviews, the Dolce Gusto is a fantastic machine.
To start with the Dolce Gusto looks superb, I have the black one and it really looks good in my home office. It's about the size of a football, with a head on the front that looks similar to the professional coffee machines. I was surprised how small and compact it was, you really can fit this in the smallest of places.
It produces great coffee in seconds and it really does taste as good as Costa's and Starbucks etc...
The coffee has great flavour, good strength, pure coffee taste and no bitterness.
Making a coffee is quick too. Fill the water tank with tap water (although I do use bottled). Switch on the machine, within about 20 secs the machine has warmed up and is ready to use. Put a pod in the holder and insert into machine, move the switch to red and fill your cup or glass. Once you have filled your cup, turn off the flow and discard old pod. That's about all there is to it! You can leave the machine on if you want and this means you don't have to wait the extra 20 secs to warm up, great in an office or home situation.
You can fill a fairly large mug with all the coffees apart from the espresso. For the Latte and cappuccino you use 2 pods, the first being the milk and the second the coffee. The machine does not automatically stop pouring; you have to stop it manually. This may seem like a drawback, but trust me it's not. In fact, it has to be one of the best features of the machine, as it allows you to fill any size cup or mug of your choice. It also allows you to adjust the strength of the coffee, by adding or reducing the milk/coffee ratio.
The pods are vacuum sealed which keeps the coffee very fresh and they are easy to find in all large supermarkets, so far I have had no problem locating them.
In conclusion: A quick and clean way to produce fantastic coffee. Great for use in home or office. Varible size and strength of coffee. Really does taste as good as the shops. Cheap to buy (got mine for 60) but even at 89 still a good buy). Solid build quality and looks superb.
I have just added this part of the review. I was out buying some more pods today and I came across the new chocolate (chocochino) pods that have just been released for the Dolce Gusto. I must say the chocolate tastes great too!

Finally an item that actually does what it says and get`s my 5 stars, this is a very simple and clever coffee machine, I had a cup of latte done and tasted within 5 mins of opening the box, and was very impressed with the ease it can be used and the taste of the coffee you can try, from the second you switch on the power button you will see how quiet and nice this is, it amazes me how from turning it on to the green light flashing for about 10 seconds to it being ready to make your fancy, how does it make it how so quick?? the water container isn't sitting on a hot plate and yet the minute you push the selector low and behold hot coffee amazing, you can get all the flavours from Tesco's for 2.99 for 16 capsules of which cappuccino and latte are actually 8 milk 8 flavour, do the milk first then the actual coffee and there you have it a top cuppa anytime, no mess, no hassle, simple and perfect in my book lets just hope it lasts and continues to produce such a great cuppa of whatever you fancy whether its cappuccino, latte, espresso(wake up shot), or caffee lungo or hot chocolate, you will not be disappointed, and theres talk of more flavours coming son. You even get a Cup and saucer (stylish) and a glass mug as well.
p.s. very addictive :)
