4 out of 5 stars Moka Express 3 cup   January 9, 2004

Bialetti is one of the best coffee maker manufacturer in Italy. I have used it since I was borne (I am Italian!). I find the three cup one to suit me best.....I usually have a bit more than one cup in the morning and it leaves me just enough for a caffe latte when I get back from work! The only down side is that it can accumulate scale if you live in area with hard water. Over all.......I could not live without it!

A long time ago, a Neapolitan friend introduced me to the morning ritual of espresso using this brilliant model.
Just put the pot on the hob; but leave the lid open. Get an espresso cup and put 2 spoons of white sugar in. As the first drops emerge, pour into the cup. Close the lid and put back onto the hob to finish. While this happens, beat the sugar and the rich coffee until creamy! Then add the rest of the pot.
Really really tasty - and almost impossible to achieve without a Bialletti.

4 out of 5 stars excellent budget choice for making espresso   January 12, 2004

I have bought this product a month ago. We are absolutely delighted with Moka Ekspress. We stuck to espresso a few years ago making it in different ways from simple glass beaker to a cheap espresso machine. This aluminum Moka Ekspress is the best budget choice, if you are not ready to buy a real expensive espresso maker. Its the biggest advantages are that it keeps coffee warm much longer than any other coffee makers as well as makes the excellent taste. I highly recommend Moka Elspress to anyone loving strong coffee. Try it on Italian Lavazzo espresso coffee. It is very convenient in use except the only drawback which is that you can easily spoil your Moka Ekspress by forgetting to add water in a cup if you are not very careful person. You can easily replace the burnt rubber part if you live in Italy, not in other country. I did that twice during last month and have to buy a new one - Moka Ekspress, of course.

3 out of 5 stars Great use and taste, nervous about aluminium!   August 9, 2008

I love MOST things about this, from great tasting coffee, which I prefer to a cafetiere, the lovely bubbly noise of my morning ritual, the great design - but, BUT I do wonder about the aluminium! I banned all alu saucepans from the kitchen, replacing with stainless steel, because of some evidence showing there may be links with micro doses of aluminium (as you get from alu saucepans) and senile dementia/Alzheimer's. This is the one alu item in my kitchen, and I'm nervously attached to it because it brings back so many memories of my student days, when my best friend on the course, half Italian, introduced me to the delights of morning espresso from a Bialetti - I take a little trip down memory lane each morning with this design classic (losing a few more brain cells with each brew?)

At some point I may have to try the newer fangled stainless steel replacement, and hope I am compos mentis enough still to enjoy it

2 out of 5 stars It's made of aluminium, not of stainless steel!   April 7, 2008

I bought one while visiting Italy and enjoyed the coffee very much intially. However, couple of months later it was useless. Be aware that you need to clean and dry the product as soon as you are finished -not always possible. I didn't and its bottom got rusty which was not removable. The product is NOT stainless steel as you would expect any practical utensils to be. If you happen to leave some coffee inside for a couple of days or weeks, forget about it -unless of course you dont mind the blackish rust which is presumably not good for health. I'm now searching one made of stainless steel.
