I purchased a set through the Amazon Marketplace a few weeks ago. Having read reviews and noted the number of fake models on the market I immediately checked the earphones on receipt. Nothing obvious initially except the instruction booklet spelt "this" as thjs" and the booklet text was not horizontal - not what one would expect from a premium brand. A call to Bose confirmed the serial number to be genuine but I was still concerned.Following discussions with Bose I sent a series of photographs to them - they then confirmed they were fake. The trader immediately refunded the cost and I then purchased a genuine set ( at higher cost). How do you tell which is a fake ? - very difficult unless you have a genuine pair to compare.So beware - if something is too good to be true it can sometimes be. Lesson learned - the Bose genuine headphones are excellent but make sure you buy the latest model which has better earpieces and a lanyard and clip.

I have a pair of B&O A8 earphones but they are broken so I replaced them with Bose. Comparing them with A8, the bass is MUCH better but sometimes you might find it too loud that the bass sounds a bit distorted. A8 offers much clearer mid and high end but Bose's aren't too bad.
Isolation is not the best, you won't be able to listen to your music well while on the tube. But despite that, there's not much sound leakage, I turned the volume up as high as my ears can handle in a very quiet room and my friend couldn't hear a thing.
I've had many pairs of in ear headphones from Sony, Sennheiser, etc (haven't tried Shure earphones though) but Bose's is undoubtedly one of my favourites(the other one being A8). If you listen to acoustic or jazz then these might not be the earphones for you but if you're a bass person like me then you'll love them!!

I bought these hoping for great things and as a replacement for my worn-out Sennheiser cx300s. How VERY disappointing! There is NO sound isolation, they are useless on the tube, or on a busy road. The clarity for classical music/opera is very poor and requires the volume to be turned up high. They really do NOT live up to expectation, OR the glossy BOSE web-site/advertisements.

Before buying these headphone I have had many problems with headphones not fitting comfortably into my ears, so I was surprised to find that these headphones fit perfectly. I paid 30 for a pair of these, and they have certainly impressed me. The base and overall sound quality is great. My only criticism is that they let in a lot of background noise, which at first took some getting used to, but doesnt bother me much anymore. Overall great headphones

Hello! Well, 5 days ago I decided to buy myself a set of these swanky looking phones on impulse, whilst out shopping. And may, I say I'm rather satisfied with my purchase. !!!HOWEVER!!!BE WARNED!!! Unless you have 'BOSE-Shaped' ears (I certainly don't), then you most likely won't be impressed in the slightest, until you actually manage to wear the things properly! It has taken me about 2 days of messing about to actually fit them properly, but now that I have, I'm very happy with these 'puppy's! They are Very comfortable, once you get used to feeling like they're going to fall out all the time! Don't get me wrong though, the HAVEN'T ever fallen out, and I've had some hefty gym sessions with 'em in, even skipped for 15min (with the neck cord BOSE give you to help steady 'em) and not once did they fall out, though sometimes they move a little. Also you can keep 'em in for hours and don't get that itchy-ear feeling you get from wearing ear-buds too long.
Now, the sound....Once fitted properly, these provide a generally well balanced sound IMHO, maybe a little too bassy for some people, but not at the expense of the rest of the sound. Even when the bass does come on strong, it isn't sluggish, you get a tight and agile response, without the speakers struggling to recover from such a thump. The abilty for the phones to handle a huge mish-mash of noise is commendable, I listen to some kinds of metal that really puts a strain on most earphones, and the BOSE really take it in their stride, and I can still pick out every single instrument and note. In fact, with some bands where for years I've just believed the vocals were very low in the mix, are coming out loud and cystal clear!! I only have a couple of gripes with the BOSE, first, the build quality, mainly the cable. It is quite thick, and not too flexible. Where the cable joins the jack is just cable against hard plastic, and I don't think it would be too difficult to shear it. Also, the silicone buds will most likely be very easy to lose whilst gettin them out of your pocket etc. Now that I've found the right tips I've PRITT-Stick'ed the tips on, so I don't lose 'em!!! And sound-wise, the noise-isolation is rubbish, but then they aren't advertised a noise isolaters. Then there's the fact that both my personal CD and my MP3 players have trouble driving them to the kind of volume I'm prone to listening at. So, if you buy these things, you'd better have a good portable to back them up!!
Anyway, to summarise, these are a cracking set of earphones, but I think maybe you'd be better served spending a little more on the UltimateEars, or if you just wanna blow your brains out, V-Mode do a good cheap line in powerful earbuds.
