5 out of 5 stars The best 2.0 speakers you can buy - - really!   March 8, 2006

Everything about the new gigaworks t20 speakers is excelent, exactly what you'd ecpect from creative. All the connectors are gold tiped for the best conductivity, they work brilliantly with any mp3 player (i use a zen vision) and work equally as well with all other aidio devices, i use them with my laptop now also.

They aren't the smallest 2.0 speakers you've ever seen 24x19x9cm ,but that's understandable because of the amazing integrated woofers in each one. There is a second line in port in the front along with a headphone out.

The main top (bass) speaker is made from yellow fibre-glass and looks cool with the cover off.

I now use them instead of my hi-fi AUX in for listening to music because the sound is so incredible.

These guys (T20) will fill a medium sized room with with very loud sound, but the main beauty of them is the clarity and size of them (without the need for a woofer!).

These are definatley the high quality replacement for your laptop or office or as long-trip-away travel speakers. The only warning ill give is that the power cord is a bit short.

5 out of 5 stars Stunning. No other way to put it. Murder Bose equivalents.   October 20, 2006

I bought these speakers expecting only fairly good quality, seeing [...what] I was spending, which isn't a huge amount when it comes to speakers. However I give my highest recommendations. Having listened to Bose Companion 2s and 3s, I have to say these speakers are better. Companion 3s would only have an edge if your main concern was loads of bass. Apart from that I think these are better, and [...] cheaper. Creative have pulled out all the stops on these, and hence give them their highly acclaimed GigaWorks name.
Sound wise, unless you are planning to pump out droves of bass, these speakers are amazing. They have crisp and clear high ranges, clean and strong mid ranges, and a great amount of base, the level you would set your sub to for rock and classical music. Not overpowering but distinctly there. They are the best 2.0 for bass I have heard. 2.0 in my opinion is what to go for at this price level, as the subs you get in 2.1 sets around 50 are either a waste of space or give a disproportionate output and muddle up the mid ranges. As with all good speakers, there is about a day long "breaking in" period, so initally they will sound fairly good, but will later astound you. The speakers are best at about 30 to 70% volume, after that (which is higher than you would really use), they become a little harsh. The speakers are best with classical music and other soft music like Jazz and Pop, followed closely by rock. I tested bass output with Overseer's "Basstrap", and the bass gets better and better as you turn up the volume. You dont get a huge amount at lower volumes, but it's the kind of music you crank up anyway, and at the high volumes you get loads.
Cosmetically they are top notch, with excellent build quality and sturdy controls. Size-wise they are at about the limit for portability. They won't fit in your briefcase with your laptop, but if you have a rucksack you should be fine. They are also great for with an Mp3 player, with a convenient audio in port at the front of the speakers, as well as a cable for connecting. Of course if you are buying them for a desktop then this isn't a concern.
All things considered, you cannot find better speakers for [this price]. You can move 'em around, and they are built to last, and I will be amazed if you are not 100% satisfied.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for MP3 players   December 8, 2006

I am a Hi-Fi enthusiast who has spent a lot of money in top equipment. I was looking for some decent speakers for my MP3 player (not just the ultra-thin-cool ones that produce metallic whispers rather than proper sound). I can say I am delighted with the Gigaworks. They are truly musical, with a high tolerance for artefacts produced by compressed music. The strongest point, as you can imagine, are the mid tones. They sound wonderful with any type of vocal music and/or stings (jazz, pop, classical). The tweeter is a really top one, allowing violin to play high but with a natural feeling, not metallic at all (which says a lot about the speakers, as MP3 compression damages the high frequencies big way). The Bass: this is a very tall order for any small speaker. The bass is great in the upper side of the low frequencies spectrum and well integrated with the mid tones. Do not expect anything on the 10 Hz- 70 Hz band because it is physically impossible. Though it is very good and pleasant, it will not satisfy people who love Hip hop or Dance music but it works great with heavy metal and hard rock. Yes, they DO BASS and very well but not to shake the windows.
Finally, the speakers can go very, very loud if your MP3 has a Lineout option for the headphone output (mine it's a Sony HD and it does have the option in the menus). If your model does not have it, the maximum volume depends on the maximum volume level of your MP3.
Built quality is second to none: they are proper speakers, not toys. All in all, a great investment for MP3 players. If you want more bass (Hip-hop or dance music), I recommend the Acoustic Energy Aego M (2.1). I have them in my computer and they rock if you have a good sound card to run them like the Creative X-Fi (as I have).
THERE IS NOTHINGH BETTER FOR UNDER 50 IN THE MARKET, THAT IS 100% TRUE.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Sound - no need for 2.1 cables and clutter.   January 22, 2007

I read all the reviews here which are very accurate, these speakers produce a crisp, clear, accurate & well rounded sound with ample depth and richness for the audiophile in me. I have listened to Jose Gonzalez - Veneer, his voice comes through warm yet uncoloured and the guitar is so clear, then I tried out Philip Glass' - Violin Concerto the speakers handled the vioins and base well. The day before I bought these I tried some Altec Lansing VS4121 - 2.1 with a separate base box, I used Tri-State "Can't Sleep" as a reference as everyone seemed to imply may be issues about hndling base when choosing this type of speaker, they were awful, the base just boomed, it was best to turn it to the lowest setting, which made the base inaudible.....so I switched to the GigaWorks and nothing is drowned out. Don't be put off by the proce tag, or the fact they don't have a separate base unit, they'll look good on your desk. My only niggle is that the blue LED is a bit distracting, I intend to colur it out with a permanent marker.

4 out of 5 stars Good sound and nice price   April 1, 2006

I bought these as I wanted a simple pair of speakers for my iRiver MP3 player that didn't need a subwoofer. They have plenty of definition and bass but don't expect them to sound like full size floorstanders! Great for laptops or MP3 players but i wouldn't use them for serious listening as the "depth" of sound is slightly lacking.....excellent value for money though
