5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Purchase   May 28, 2008

This is the first review i've ever written, but i thought this product deserved one as it had none.

I got the frame today after ordering it yesterday, great service from amazon, opened the box, and its boxed very well, had a silver embossed sony logo to reveal the frame underneath, quite rare to have a product boxed like this.

First impressions, great. as opposed to some of the other photo frames around, this one actually looks like a "real" photo frame, slim (apart from the small box that houses the memory card slots) with a chrome finish edge. it was as simple as plug it in, and put the memory card in.
The supplied remote is a dream to use, and that has been designed well too.

Picture quality is outstanding, after seeing some of the cheaper frames in stores, this blows it away the colours are vivd and everything is sharp. it might not play videos and music, but its a picture frame! what else do you want it to do.

I've now setup the on and off timer, so the only time i will need to touch it again, is the change the photos, but with about 2000 on there now (with a 4gb memory stick) i won't be doing that for a while.

I've also read on the net that some people don't like the idea of having a SONY logo slapped on the front of their picture frame, as a nice touch, the logo is actually illuminated, and you can turn it off in the settings menu, so that s that!

Only a couple of small gripes, the front has a gloss finish which looks great, but is prone to fingerprints, so you'll have to clean it if its handled a lot. Including a battery, just to pass it around if you have guests would be a nice touch, as would be wi-fi, but i'm sure those features will come along in the next models.

i'll stop now, but this is only a short explanation of this frames features, revieing them all would make you do a lot of scrolling, as there are so many great things!

All i'd say is you won't regret buying this.

After browing numerous photoframes im glad I choose this product. Although it doesn't show video or play music, it displays pictures very well. The display is crisp with vivid colors and every photo of came out great.
Other picture frames i've viewed in shops either don't resemble picture frames due to their enormous border and small screen, or the displayed picture quality is poor and pixilated. You dont get that with the DPFV900B.

I copied numerous pictures onto a 1gb SD card and put it in the appropriate slot in the picture frame, selected the display mode, then off it went. Very simple.

Some of the good options were:
Display full picture or fit to width of photoframe.
Calendar + time display with alternating photos on other portion of screen.
Timer setting to start\stop the photoframe automatically.

This product is both easy to use but contains enough configuration that its not lacking anything. It looks stylish and displays photos very well.

5 out of 5 stars Expensive but worth It!   July 2, 2008

Images sharp and clear. Options for slide show, auto switch on/off, preview, clock, calendar all simple to access and work really well. I particularly like the ability to change the interval on the slide show.

Accepts many card types and is easy to build an album on the internal memory. It cleverly adjusts the picture for portrait or landscape as you turn the frame - optimising the picture size.

A shame that the lcd screen is 15:9 more akin to a widescreen TV rather than a camera. This means that if you have the frame in landscape mode then portrait pictures tend to be smaller than you'd wish. Cropping pictures in a photo-suite to match the screen ratio can exacibate this problem. It would also have been useful to be able to file photos in folders so as to easily select groups for viewing.

4 out of 5 stars High quality with a single flaw.....   September 28, 2008

I agree with the majority of the other reviewers; this is undoubtedly a very high quality photo frame and I am essentially very pleased with it. There is however a single flaw. If, like me, you upload your photos to your PC for minor manipulation (e.g. cropping or adjusting brightness etc.) with photo editing software then the new .jpeg file you create from your PC may not compatible with this photoframe. Hard to believe but true. It's even in the manual supplied with the frame! So if you simply shoot your photos and want them displayed then this frame is for you. However if you use PC based photo manipulation software then the images you create may not be compatible with this frame, regardless of how small the changes you make. Hence four stars instead of five.

OK, it has the "iPOD" look, but it does look and feel like quality. The important bit, the actual image quality, is fantastic. Other things that I have found are important to me:
1. Image quality. Yes I know I already mentioned it, but what's the point of a picture frame with poor image quality?
2. Can display pictures in a random order. Don't take this for granted on other frames.
3. Option to stretch picture to frame size or maintain original aspect. Agan, don't assume others do this.
4. Auto on/off times just in case you forget to switch it off.
5. Large half gig internal memory
6. Automatically detects and adjusts picture to suit the way you stand the frame - portrait or landscape.

All sorts of other stuff, but these were my favourites.

Only thing missing is that it is mains power only. No battery option.

One note generally on digital frames. Even a 9" screen is not very big by photo standards. OK on a desk or up to 6 feet away, but much further and you can't really see the image. If you're thinking about one of these for Mum/Granny then make sure it will be within 6' and obviously that there is mains power available.
