Product Description The Powershot A560, successor to the Powershot A540, marks the arrival of AiAF face detection and out-of-this-world sensitivity to the famous A-line of Powershot cameras from Canon! Weighing 20 grams less than its predecessor, the A560 has kept the same compact casing but has added some new and improved Canon-exclusive technical functions. The Powershot A560 uses the same DIGIC III image processor as its predecessor for more detailed shots, and it has an AiAF face detection mode, which is able to recognise up to 9 faces in a single photo, highlight all of your friends' and family's faces and correct shadows or reflections. In addition to its 7 megapixel sensor and 2.5? TFT screen, the Powershot A560 has several scene and colour modes, such as sepia, indoors, landscape, night, and underwater. Plus, the ISO 1600 sensitivity ensures excellent pictures even in low lighting conditions. Thanks to its in-built flash you?ll be able to take all kinds of photos without blinding your subjects. You can use the red-eye reduction function to improve the quality of your photos, and even record up to 1 hour of video in resolutions of up to 640 x 640 at 30 fps thanks to its SDHC compatibility. The Powershot A560 digital camera allows you to take high quality photos that are richer and more colourful than ever before!

Excellent low to mid range camera for the price August 16, 2007 J. Mitchell (West Yorkshire, UK) 50 out of 52 found this review helpful
I bought this camera to replace my old 3MP camera and it hasn't disappointed on any level. This camera features the new generation DIGIC III processor which means better quality, quicker pictures, less battery drain and Face Detection capabilities. I'm not 100% sure what this face detection does - I assume it's something to do with the software red eye reduction which seems to work reasonably well. If it misses a face, you can add a new face zone to attempt to reduce red eye after the image has been taken which also seems to work quite nicely. I have had success with 95% of my pictures - there have been the odd blurry one but it is by far the exception rather than the rule. The video capability is far better here than on my old camera. The sound is slightly tinny compared to my digital camcorder but, through the PC at least, the picture quality is very good. I looked into a few different cameras before I went for this one and I believe I made a good choice for the money - with its 4 times optical zoom and reasonably compact form, it's a step above the entry level cameras but it doesn't cost the earth.
Great for the money September 5, 2007 Eric Baker (London) 43 out of 43 found this review helpful
I got several of these for my wife's nursery school and the staff were amazed at what a great camera it is for the price. One had just spent twice as much on a Sony that "doesn't seem nearly as good". It takes really good pictures even when left on auto and is really fast. It's also good having a viewfinder, 35-140 zoom and a strong flash, unlike with those expensive little shirt pocket cameras. OK it's jacket (not shirt) pocket sized but it's real quality. Even the video clips are excellent. Before buying, though, check out the A570 - the same but with image stabilistaion.
Value for Money September 11, 2007 Mr. Nigel Whitworth (West Yorkshire) 36 out of 36 found this review helpful
I bought this to replace my 3.1MP A70. My initial reaction was it feels a little plasticy compared to that. Although still good quality. It is slightly smaller in size but the screen at the back is massive in comparison. It has all of the standard features you would expect, although the biggest disappointment is the "stitch assist" feature is missing from A560. I use this extensively to take landscape shots, time will tell if my manual judgement and the Photo assist software supplied do the same job. Canon only supply a 16mB SD card, which only holds 4 photos on the highest setting so be prepared to get a larger size if you buy this. The photos taken though all very good. Overall for a 7.1MP camera at just over 100 this represents value for money.
Great for the money! March 2, 2008 Mr. Gavin Simpson (england) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Build quality is great. Camera feels sturdy. Picture quality is fantastic for the price. Got this for my wife and she's a bit of a technophobe having used a 35mm point and shoot until now. She's taken to it like a duck to water. This may not be of benefit to everyone but this camera takes two standard AA batteries. We use rechargables but if the batteries run out when we're out and about then we can just buy standard duracels etc. The only downside I can see is that with a 2GB card you can take more than 1000 photos and this means that my wife is snapping pictures of everything.
Super little camera January 6, 2008 R. Nunney (Daventry, Northants. UK) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I got the camera for a Christmas Present. Absolutely superb, and very pleased with it. Easy to use, Image quality is superb. Facial regonition is also very good - even focusing on pets! Images are clear and sharp. There is a manual setting so you can choose exposure, white balance, colours etc. Finally the battery life is great. 2 x AA batteries lasted all day Christmas day (about 350 shots) Reccomended highly to beginner, or those wishing to move on further from Point and Shoot Cameras!
