Product Description 6.0 mega pixels, 3x optical zoom The Samsung S630 is a high resolution digital camera that is equipped with a true-colour filtered 6.0 mega-pixel CCD. You can use Samsung S630 to produce even better images and take detailed photos for printing up to poster size. In addition, the Samsung S630 has a 3x optical and 5x digital zoom giving 15x total zoom when combined. The ASR technology prevents the degradation of image clarity and colour common to flash photography. With ASR the effects of camera shake are reduced in lower light conditions. You can even take well exposed, sharper pictures in low light without using a flash at all. It guarantees brighter and more natural pictures.

An easy to use masterpiece that takes great images July 25, 2007 K. BINDING (UK) 162 out of 165 found this review helpful
I bought two of these cameras for my 8 and 5 year-old daughters - indulgent, yes, but I don't regret buying them at all. This is a superb littel camera - very easy to use (we've had no trouble with the macro zoom function mentioned by another reviewer)and the image quality is first-rate. I use a Canon EOS 350 digital SLR myself and have decided to buy one of these for myself as a go-anywhere camera to keep in my pocket. The menu functions are very straightforward - the 8-year-old had sorted everything out in five minutes and even the 5 year-old had the video function under control within 10 minutes of picking the camera up.Don't get me wrong: this isn't a toy, it's a fully-functioned camera that happens to be so very well thought out that it's child's play to use. Transferring images to the PC is a doddle - the Digimax software is easy and hassle-free. The one negative I have - as with most compacts - is that they get through batteries quite quickly - definitely worth using 2500mh-rated batteries. Other than that,I strongly recommend this unit.
Nice features, shame it crashes June 9, 2007 A. L. Stannard (Surrey, UK) 75 out of 96 found this review helpful
I've tried out a number of these units and can only conclude there is a design fault. They all crash if you use the zoom on a close-up (portrait) image - e.g. on something about 20 cm away (or less) and you zoom from wide to tele, during that transition I experienced crashes, I don't know if the more recent reviewers have tried that. Admittedly if you are focusing on something close to you, you shouldn't need the zoom, however, under certain conditions, you might want to (e.g. close up of an item for an ebay auction), and thus on these units, when you try taking a picture where you've zoomed slightly on a close-up object, and you have portrait focus on - the unit crashes, and the only way to get it started is to remove batteries for about a minute, before placing them back in and starting again - very inconvenient if you want to get something quickly. With regards to everything else in the camera, there are a lot of features, picture quality is very good, and of the various brands of cameras I've tried, this has the best broadest range of movie settings, such as control over 15fps or 30fps (most camera frame rates are fixed, but you don't need fast frame rates on slow moving objects, thus you can save memory space), and you can zoom whilst filming, on most cameras in this price range you can't. If it wasn't for the crashing (since you can't always make sure you've gone out of portrait mode before zooming), I would have kept this camera. Its not a good sign to have something fundamental like this over-looked in the control logic.
Not bad at all November 19, 2007 KT sanlie (Leeds) 63 out of 66 found this review helpful
i bought this camera for my mum - she won't thank me for sharing her age but let's just say, she wasn't brought up with technology! She had got to grips with my old Samsung phone so I thought it would be wise to stick to the same brand. The menus are very easy to use and everything is laid out logically with a big screen to view. The battery was not great at first but I got her some rechargeable batteries and the battery life is as good as my lithium ion camera now. Not only that - it takes really good pictures. I was very surprised! And it has advanced shake reduction which all the better brands seem to have - I'm not sure mum has realised that one though! I can't say I have any grumbles on this camera, especially not for the price. You can't go wrong and I reckon this camera would suit a lot of people.
nice but dim October 26, 2007 Harry Nicholas (UK) 45 out of 53 found this review helpful
Well for 50.00 quid it is a bargain, but my first big disappointment was size - it's enormous. I was hoping for a pocket-size camera to replace my sony cybershot U, which is smaller than a mobile, I took this camera everywhere in my trouser pocket, but the samsung is just way too big to put in your trousers! I also have a casio exilim, which also doesn't work, but it too is half the thickness and a bit smaller all over, so if size matters, make a mock-up and test it out! The picture quality is acceptable, but the colour, especially skin-tones, seems a bit off, test pictures of my son, compared to a sony P10 (also smaller) has the skin-tones darker - I have a brown son instead of a flesh-oloured son! So, if you're buying it for the kids - okay, but not as good as other reviewers would lead you to believe.
Battery Power November 7, 2007 S. A. S. Miranda 33 out of 42 found this review helpful
For the price, the camera takes OK photos. I purchased this for my son. It only takes about 30 photos with the flash on before the batteries are no good. So, I have a 2gb card that can fit 1,000 photos on it, but to fill that up I would need 10 kilos of batteries. My advice is do not buy it, spend a little more and get a better camera. Shame I did not read a review like this first. I have had it one week, useless camera, DON'T BUY IT. Stick to your Cannons and Sonys.
