Looks great and reads most cards May 5, 2006

First of all, it looks great on my desktop with a nice docking station. More importantly, I've tried it with an SLC CF card (which caused problems for other card readers I've tried), a miniSD card and an RS-MMC card, and its worked great with all of them, with a good transfer rate.
The only problem I had was when I tried reading a microSD card via an SD adapter. The ImageMate totally failed here - it did not even recognise that I had inserted the SD adapter. The same SD adapter, however, worked fine in other card readers.
To conclude; build quality is great, and unless you use microSD cards, this is highly recommended!

I have to say, I wasn't expecting a quality product, not because it's Sandisk (I specifically went with them because I figured they would be the best) but because a card reader isn't something you expect any manufacturer to put a lot of thought into. How pleaseing it was to open up the packaging and find such a well made and well thought through product. It slots into the docking station (which has a decent length cable) with a satisfying click and has a nice short USB cable for when you're using it away from the docking station. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Sandisk released another great reader with the ability to read any memory media format available.
What I like:
1- Portable light sturdy construction. I use it to move large files of data on a CF memory without carrying a laptop.
2- Fast data transfer with USB 2.0 connection.
3- Easy to install. Plug and play with Windows 2000 or XP (I have not tried other operating systems)
4- Stands vertically or horizontally. I was afraid it might not be stable when standing vertically, I was proven wrong. It is very stable even when you are installing/removing memory cartridges; non-slip rubber is used to prevent sliding.
5- Reads 12 different memory media. I can use my camera's CF memory, my other camera's memory stick and my Palm's SD memory all with the same device.
7- Elegant black and silver design that looks great on any desk.
8- Each slot has its own LED (small light) which indicates that the memory media has been inserted properly.
The only drawback:
1- It comes with 2 cables, one for the cradle (vertical position) and one for the reader itself (horizontal position). The cable for the horizontal position is really short, around 9inches, to be used other than directly near your desktop/laptop.

Nowhere on the packaging does it say whether or not it works with Vista. I can report that just plugging it in on a Vista Business machine gives 4 removable drives just fine. I didn't bother with the CD so can't comment on the button. Read my 1gb CF card just fine though. Very happy.

With 5 stars from the previous reviews it was a must buy. My reason for buying this device was to transfer selected photo images onto an SD card to display on our TV set, which has an SD card slot. It's simply a case of drag and drop the selected photos to the blank card and they play on the TV.
My only criticism is there is no mention of how to write to a card in the instructions, which accompanied the device.
As an aside Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 is great software with an excellent tutorial.
