Product Description All the features of the popular iPod nano now come in an even more compact size ? with video functions to boot!Apple proudly presents the new and improved version of its nano player: the iPod nano, with a bold new design and a larger, brighter colour screen. The iPod nano has a video function, and you can view your favourite films in exceptional quality thanks to its incredible pixel count, at 204 dpi instead of 163 dpi for earlier Apple models. The iPod nano continues to raise the bar for multimedia entertainment, as it also plays video Podcasts!Even the interface has been modified tobe even more user-friendly and intuitive. The Cover Flow function, for example, displays the album cover of all the music tracks stored in the player?s memory, so you can flip through your music library and find your favourite songs quickly and easily. You?ll also be able to download games onto your iPod nano, for hours of entertainment whether you're at home, on the train or on holiday. My opinion September 8, 2007 Matt Ledger (Ipswich, UK) 86 out of 89 found this review helpful
I just read Mr Pickles review so thought I ought to give my alternative opinion and also point out that my suspicion is that he has not actually used the new nano's! I admit that in pictures the new nano's proportions look a little odd but when you get your hands on it it starts to make sense, the key is size of the body, at only 6.5mm thin it feels really stunning and looks great.
It is also good to note that the price of the new 4GB nano (WITH VIDEO PLAYBACK!!) is the same price as the previous nano was for 2GB!
The new video playback feature of the nano did worry me a little as the screen is only 2 inches diagonally but it turns out that the screen has exactly the same number of pixels as the iPod video's screen had so still looks really good. The battery is also able to play up to 5 hours of video which is really nice or up to 24 houers of music (which is more than I will ever need!) The final thing to mention is the new Cover Flow feature which lets you flick through your album covers to find music (not really a reason to buy the iPod but looks really cool!)
Don't buy without seeing one first. October 22, 2007 Lancebastion (stratazon.co.uk) 49 out of 54 found this review helpful
I highly recommend tracking down one of the new nano video i-pods before purchasing. The first thing that hit me was just how small it was. Previously before video smaller always = better. Now, perhaps not so.
The screen is small and to be honest you're not going to spend a long time watching videos without straining your eyes. THe upside is that it has the same resolution as the bigger i-pods, which means no loss of quality, just size.
As always there's no replaceable battery, so once it's dead it's pretty much game over. Saying that the flash memory i-pods have much better battery life than ever before.
It's a very nifty piece of kit that just wasn't possible a few years ago. It looks cool and it sounds cool, just don't buy it for the video functionality alone.
Very good Apple Ipod September 13, 2007 Mark (Newcastle, England) 46 out of 49 found this review helpful
Read Mr Pickles review at the bottom, and nope, totally disagree with him! The Apple Ipod Nano is deffo not a let down. It feels good, its small, bigger screen, thin, and its a very good price for a 4Gb device. Video playback is good, the hours for a 4Gb you get is quite good, you can store photos, there are games on it that are very good and obviously you can store music and the sound is beautiful and smooth, not a problem with it. Itunes is good and is easy to use and you can store TV episodes from it and you can download stuff for free, which is cool!
Apart from that there are clocks for different coutnries, cities and calendars and slide shows.
Well worth them oney and again, Mr.Pickles, who has reviewed all the new apple ipods and given them a bad review, sorry but you're wrong, this is very good and worth every penny!!
Quick Reviews! December 21, 2007 carlosnightman (A Seat) 39 out of 39 found this review helpful
There are a few negative reviews here, whether or not they are by people who have used this new Ipod or not does not matter. Those of you who have used one in the past will know the pros and cons, and this is probably Apple's best yet. I'm not a huge fan of thin styled phones, ipod's etc, and this is easily one of the smallest, but it looks good, and as most people think 'smaller is better', then they should be very pleased. The price is also nice and competetive, especially considering the video playback, and memory capacity. It is also simple to use, and easy to set up.
The new video playback feature works well even with a small screen, as the pixel level is high. So, everything you see will be clear as you could want it to be. You may need to convert file types in order to play your videos, but this can be done easily enough online. The battery is strong- up to 5 hours of film or 24 hours of music. The new Cover Flow feature which lets you flick through your album covers so you can choose what you listen to is nice enough, though hardly essential or exciting. There are also other extras such as games, calendar, stop watch, world times, to distract you for a while, as well as a setting to check how much space is left.
The most important thing is sound quality, and it is just as good as ever, improved if anything. You can easily tune out from the outside world of coughs and chat on the bus using this. The click wheel is slightly too sensitive, meaning you scroll past the song you want, and that is about the only fault I can find here. So for a simple, sleek, high quality iPod with plenty of space, this is the one you want
Video is an excellent addition September 11, 2007 N. J. Morrison 32 out of 35 found this review helpful
I got rid of my previous nano and replaced it with a 5th gen as I wanted to utilise the video capabilities (and I use these a LOT now - even for putting HD movies on to watch in hotels / in the bedroom etc through scart - which you can do with a few additions costing very little) - however, now the video is in the nano, I'll switch back again, as the smaller size is a huge benefit.
PS - Anyone wanting to know how reliable Mr Pickles review is - just click on "see all my reviews" beside his name. He's just left a load of negative reviews for every ipod, and 5* reviews for every Creative. He obviously works for creative and isn't very bright. I've owned both - and the ipod beats the creative in every possible way, every time.
