To support the higher capacity needs, SD cards are now requiring a different design. The new SD 2.0 specifications which supports 4GB and up, is called Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC). The SD Association has created and defined 3 speed classes to help you identify speed and performance capabilities/minimum requirements of SDHC cards and their SDHC host products. Cards address data (read and write) at numerous speeds. Many factors impede this performance. SDHC guarantees a minimum read and write speed necessary to handle recording high quality video and audio. The maximum card speed may vary, but you can always depend on SDHC cards to meet your SDHC host product's high quality performance requirements.

Excellent card, but what would possess anyone to willingly pay 450 pounds for it !! December 13, 2007 Small Scale (London UK) 22 out of 27 found this review helpful
I echo J.Gerretsen's comments that this is an excellent card in terms of refresh & transfer times, reliability, etc. A worthy purchase at around 40 pounds. Regarding the reviewer who paid an eye-watering 450 pounds to a Marketplace seller, please note that I never buy from Marketplace sellers because they are just a rogue's gallery. Just look at all of their "manufactured" feedback from people called Mr R, Miss A, Mrs S, Mr H, etc, etc. All made up, and all rubbish. It's astonishing that Amazon don't take action against all of these rogues as it tarnishes their reputation. Play safe and buy only from Amazon itself.
Yes, the price was clearly a mistake... October 12, 2007 CA Wascherfort (London) 19 out of 26 found this review helpful
This product is the best in its class (well the extreme 4 is better...). It goes without saying that the 1000gbp price was a mistake - and it is sorted now. I have used the sandisk cards (mostly compact flash, but also sd to some extent) in conditions ranging from the harsh winter in Mongolia to the humidity and heat of Liberia and West Africa in general during the rain season. Not only is the data transfer speed great, but the extreme range was designed with tough conditions in mind - and in my experience they serve that purpose very well.
Superb, quick, good value November 15, 2007 J. L. Gerretsen (Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom) 19 out of 22 found this review helpful
Excellent transfer speed for it's class and good value at the price. I take wedding photo's (hence a need for quality and reliability!) with Sandisk cards and cannot praise them enough. Havne't lost any data or had any problems in over 40,000 frames.

I recently bought the Sandisk Extreme III SD 4GB Card through Amazon for 22.98 (including postage). Reviewer A Butterfield is spot on in all of his/her comments about this card. I cannot understand why some of the other reviewers mark this card down because they feel ill done to by a trader or because the supplied cd disc is too small, those facts do not detract from the card itself. The Sandisk Extreme III SD 4GB card is definitely a 5 star card.
WARNING: Mini CD in slot-loading CD/DVD drives February 13, 2008 Arcadian (Oxon, UK) 15 out of 21 found this review helpful
While the card itself is fine, users should under no circumstances insert the accompanying mini CD in a slot-loading style CD/DVD drive, which could result in damaging your hardware! The CD is only suitable for placing on a tray-loading drive. Fortunately the software is not necessary to use of the card or reader and is only for use in the event of photo recovery should the card become damaged. However, the CD says it comes with both MS and mac OSX software, implying that it can be installed on any mac or windows machine. Most macs now come with a slot drive, so the mini CD cannot be used. There is NO warning or instruction either on the package or in the accompanying literature to advise that the mini CD should ONLY be used in a tray-loading drive. Given the size of the box the card comes in, there is no good reason why a conventional full size CD could not have been used instead.
