Misleading - Trade descriptions violation? June 9, 2007 Book and technology user (S E England) 60 out of 63 found this review helpful
There seems to be an increasing trend amongst marketplace resellers to provide an artifically low 'product price', which goes hand in hand with an inflated 'P&P' price that is not seen until the checkout stage. Worse still, as has been pointed out, the simple multiplication of the P&P price by the number of items when multiple items are ordered further inflates the actual price charged in a substantial and unreasonable way. I was recently instrumental in ordering 20 items and the P&P price was 20 x 5, although the actual shipping charge, in a single cardbox box, was a small fraction of this. That seller has now been blacklisted by the organisation on whose behalf the order was placed. My recommendation - place the item in your basket and go through checkout just far enough to see the amount of P&P added on. After having put yourself through this aditional trouble because of the misleading pricing, if you then find that the P&P is a rip off steer clear of that seller in future and post your views using the review section. Whether or not this deliberately misleading pricing actually violates the various consumer protection laws is an interesting point - such sellers deserve to be avoided like the plague. Shame on Amazon - which always seems to be an exemplary online seller itself - for allowing and thereby implcitly condoning this practice amongst its marketplace resellers. By so doing it reduces its hard earned reputation in the eyes of its customers.
Great! December 28, 2006 R. Muxlow (England) 49 out of 49 found this review helpful
It's small, green, flashes when in use, holds 2GB of data and it was cheep! It doesn't need to be installed or set up - it just works. It's great! I would get another and would recommend it to others.
Compact and convinent device February 16, 2007 Dr. D. L. Ormsby 49 out of 50 found this review helpful
I purchased two of these from Amazon. The removable cap fits on the back of the flash stick reducing the chances of you losing it. On my Intel iMac using the USB 2.0 port I see... 2MB/s write speed 8MB/s read speed So it takes about 8.5 minutes to write 1GB of data and about 2 minutes to read it on or off the device.
Does what its supposed to December 10, 2006 G. Burton (United Kingdom) 47 out of 47 found this review helpful
Well is does what its supposed to. 2gb storage (I think its actually 1.9gb or something) Very compact Does have a green light that flashes when in use 5 year guarantee Not sure about the 2.0 USB speed but I did transfer using 1.1 USB approximately 2500 files which added to about 1.2gb and it took about 20minutes so on 2.0 I imagine to be much faster. Very recommended and at an excellent price
The Postage and Packing myth June 8, 2007 K. P. Rose (London soon to be Wellington NZ) 46 out of 51 found this review helpful
I brought this item a couple of days ago. My fault was not noticing the extornate P&P price as I had other thngs to buy and it got lost in my vision. This was a present for my mother. i managed to send it to my mother in the same flimsy envelope it came in for 50p or so. 4.50 for a 6.49 item I ask you. There are plenty of other places that do not treat you with just dishonesty and contempt. But it elsewhere. You can get it from many place under the 10.99 that I paid. If you have to buy one through amazon avoid TheComputerShop they are not reliable. If enough of you put your foot down about this mis-selling, afterall amazon and the associte sellers are making 3.50 to 4.00 extra over the advertised price. Make them make the true cost visable. Also they charge the same p&p rate for all items individually regardless of how many you buy. This makes the profit they are making from mutliple P&p sales even worse. They advertise a price and then add on all these ather little extras that bear no resemblance to the actual P&P price. GET IT ELSE WHERE or GET THEM TO HAVE AN HONEST AND TRANSPARENT POLICY REGARDING THIS MATTER.
