Excellent Piece of kit - Amazon Details Are Wrong December 4, 2007 A. Rossiter (West Yorkshire, UK) 87 out of 88 found this review helpful
This TomTom is an excellent piece of kit, fully charged and ready to use out of the box, with just a few settings to sort out and it'll pick up the satellites quite easily as the GPS is very sensitive. It also cut throught the heated windshield of the Picasso picking up 10 satellites. The 6 digit postcode finder was excellent and also the map share is only as good as the people who share the info, but the only down side of the mapshare is that if TomTom verify the alter map they'll put it on, but no one knows how long it stays on as TomTom state they need more people reporting the alteration before they'll do anything with the map. So you would beable to drive down a road that the TomTom states is blocked. The Amazon details are wrong as well. Its got no SD Slot as it uses the 512MB of internal memory - NOT 1GB memory. But other than these points its a very good product and would recommend it to anyone.
Just what I expected! December 20, 2007 Marie-louise Perkins (Surrey, UK) 55 out of 55 found this review helpful
Ok, here goes for the money this is just what you'd expect. Its so simple to use I was all excited about an evening learning how to use it (yep Im sad)....how disappointed it took 3 minutes! The maps are easy to follow. Really easy to navigate for new addresses (everything I wanted so far has been listed...) clear mileage and directions voice is perfectly understood. the volume is easy to adjust and apaprently you can download famous voices - including the cookie monster! PLeased I bought it. I know I cant download europe or the rest of the world but I really dont care! I can download updates for maps and speed cameras and have already used the 10 voucher.... Good luck
In a word - Fabulous December 28, 2007 Princess 40 out of 40 found this review helpful
I loved this the moment I got it out of the box. So easy to use, I was up and running in no time. Ladies, you will love the size - very handbag friendly. I've seen the comments regarding not being able to put other maps on but to be honest if I had wanted European maps I would have bought the more expensive model. This way, you only pay for what you get, rather than lots of stuff you don't.
TOMTOM One V3 February 3, 2008 M. W. Vollmer (Coventry UK) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
Bought this Sat Nav as I thought TOMTOM was the best and it was a great price. It worked great straight out the box, having tested it locally cannot fault the routes it provides almost like it has local knowledge, HOWEVER it has MAJOR software problems when connecting to TOMTOM for updates it totally screwed the unit resulting in a BIG FLASHING X. After requesting TOMTOMs advice I was luckily able to do a manual backup without going through their software, I then had to FORMAT the device and reload the software, the unit is now working perfectly again and I really like its features. I have since had a go at another update again this screwed the unit, fortunately I now know enough to put it right. If you consider this Unit be very careful to create a backup before doing anything else
Fine as long as you don't need customer support! March 7, 2008 mssmith1 (UK) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Product worked great straight out of the box. Really easy to set up, seems well made and has a good user interface and cradle. Did exactly what I wanted and was heading for a four or five star result. Having had it for 3 weeks now, I'm fairly impressed with the route calculations, they are usually fairly good, if not perfect. However, when I first ran the PC software to update it, that was when my problems started. After the mandatory update, I got an error message that the reset button and website instructions didn't fix. Enter the horrible world of Tom Tom support. On the positive side you don't wait in queues for long on the phone and the people are largely pleasant (I've had one expereince with an unhelpful grump bag). On the negative side it's 3 weeks later and it's still not resolved. So on balance, if I were choosing again, I'd certainly look at more options before picking a TomTom. It maybe I got a dud one, but I would have expected them to sort my problems out by now.
