Decent bluetooth adapter - works under Linux June 11, 2007

I've just received this adapter to use under Linux (FC3). This has worked fine (with "service bluetooth start" command), after which I could send my address book to my PC, which is what I wanted. For those on Windows etc., it uses the BlueSoleil stack which should be fine up to Windows XP, but it looks like you have to pay for a Vista upgrade if that's what you're using. The software is supplied on a mini CDROM, which may not fit all CD drives.
The case looks like the logo/finish might rub off easily but I expect the electronics inside are just fine.

Looking at other reviews I guess it depends what you want to do with technology. I was looking to enable my desktop to work with Bluetooth so that I could back up my mobile, photo's, directory, send texts etc. It worked brilliantly, did everything I expected of it, easy to install (Win XP) and just worked. It really was simple. I guess if you are trying to use it to have phone calls via the PC over a headset at the other end of the garden it probably would struggle since that's not, in my view, what it was designed for.
So if you expect it to fly you to Mars whilst communicating with Jupiter, save your money! If you want it to give you Bluetooth connectivity mobile to PC using XP it works brilliantly and is an excellent investment at the princly sum of One Penney. I think with postage and so on it was 6 and still excellent value.

This item arrived in quick time, but brother in law had a problem installing, when I looked at it, it was just XP/Windows say that each of the various drivers (about 20) had not passed Microsoft verification so had to keep saying it was OK to continue - would have got 5 stars if it was not for this. Item now installed and working fantastically.

0.01 is a stupid price. Too good to be true. It turns out that the marketplace company adds 10 p&p - but you only see this when you get to the checkout!!
How infuriatingly inconvenient!
When I realised this I went back and cancelled several items in my order.
