1 out of 5 stars I wouldn't buy it again   May 27, 2006

I bought a Quest 2 to help me find my way around . What a mistake! It is just another bit of technology that promises the moon and only delivers a big credit card bill.
The manual says the Quest 2 will work in any weather and through heavy cloud over. Don't believe it. Why? After four hours of trying it won't acquire any satellites in rain-soaked southern England. And I didn't change any settings. So I'm stuck with an expensive piece of high tech equipment that doesn't work even when profesionally installed. Maybe there is a solution but it should work straight out of the box as it promises.

Just met a friend in France, he cycled 420 miles from St Malo, down through France to south of Bordeaux without a map, tapped in where he wanted to stay each night, told it mode of transport, followed it all the way. We were all impressed.

3 out of 5 stars could be better   January 18, 2008

I bought this to work in the Car on a MotorBike and while on Holiday in Europe. It does work really good on Major roads in the UK and seems to get your about fairly well enough. Short cuts it does not like and new roads gets it all confused. On its first European outing we didn't download the specific maps for Northern Spain and Andorra; this leaves only a basic EU mapping and it showed no airports in Spain at all; this was our fault and it coped as best it could. It did crash twice due to new roads and unable to calculate any routes and it lost a couple of presets when it did this. It also got confused with hairpin bends and suggested we did a unturn in the mountains in Andorroa. GPS devices should be used a guide to where you want to go not as an all out navigation expert, take a map as well. Maybe we'll load the EU maps next time and it will behave a bit better.
