| Customer Reviews: Amazing Entry Level Projector!!! November 10, 2008 Mr. T. Freeland (UK) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
This is the first projector I have ever purchased so I have not been able to compare to another model. However if you are looking to purchase your first projector I can highly recommend the Optoma HD65.
Within 5 minutes of getting it out of the box it was up and running after simply connecting a HDMI cable and power lead to the back. The controls are simple and its possible to focus the image and zoom to your desired size in less than 20 seconds! I have it running at about 90" to 100" inches depending on what im watching and the image is truly breathtaking!! My Xbox 360 looks fantastic. The picture is sharp, defined, bright and the colours fantastic with no sign what so ever of the dreaded rainbow effect. The image is so bright it is possible to watch during the day although much better in a blacked out room.
I do not have a blu ray player but at 90" the picture is still amazing when watching normal DVD's and I would not bother upgrading to blu ray until the price comes down. However when watching some hi def footage through my Virgin + box at 120" the picture is truly amazing however.
Once again I have never seen a high end projector in action but find it hard to imagine what can be improved from the HD65's performance and if anything is is really worth the extra money?! I think not.
Buy one now October 28, 2008 Kings Destroy (u.k) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I Changed my big old seleco SVP350 for this tiny little beauty, and am well and truly impressed. I have the projector almost 3meters away for it to fit my existing 4:3 90" screen and the picture is surprisingly sharp, even with the lights full on. Black levels are black not the grey you get with similarly priced projectors. There's plenty of sockets for you to fill in on the back. But if like me you have a sound processor or receiver you will only need probably 2, the composite for normal TV and the hdmi for games/Blue-ray and other high def images.
Have watched the incredibles at the weekend and the colours are vibrant and strong with no leakage around the edges.
For your money you can't beat this tiny gem.
BUT!!! 1 word, like everything if you put rubbish in you get rubbish out. I have high end equipment like tag Mclaren with nordost cables so you WILL get a different result if using cheap and cheerful cabling.
Surprisingly simple; surprisingly good May 18, 2009 Nigel HS (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I confess I spent a long time researching the purchase of this projector as I was buying on behalf of a local community amenity society that has many invited speakers throughout the year. Increasingly our speakers have asked for projection facilities and this tidy piece of equipment delivered good light, contrast and silence! The last element makes for greater enjoyment in small spaces where loud fans can send you to sleep! So, all the reviews I read ahead of buying this projector were right. The simplicity of connection and automatic configuration makes this a dream to use. It seems to be worth shopping around for the replacement lamps that can be horribly expensive - although the promised lifespan of each lamp is reasonable.
Brilliant October 18, 2009 Bristol boy (England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
For the price of a 40-42 inch plasma or LCD you too can have 120 inches of HD projection, in our case hooked up to an Xbox 360, freeview box, PC and DVD player. Easy to set up, literally 5 minutes out of the box, great picture quality even on a plain emulsioned wall and enough brightness to watch without full blackout conditions. Highly recommended.
Great piece of hardware January 12, 2010 Richard A. Horsford (United Kindom, Manchester) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this projector a while ago and i have to agree with the other comments it is amazing. I run it on an 80 inch 16:9 ratio screen and films and bluerays on ps3 look good so do games. I did quite alot of research before i dipped in to buy one focusing on looking at the brightness in lumens for day light hours use and ofc HD support, home cinema and gaming. The image quality is very good and a friend of mine who also uses a projector is pretty shocked on how good the image quality of mine displays.
The only small problem I find with this projector it can generate alot of heat and does suffer some minor light loss but, all in all a very great piece of hardware.
