| Customer Reviews: Essential piece of kit October 24, 2007 mazza (United Kingdom) 42 out of 45 found this review helpful
Oh how I wish these were about when my previous three babies were born!
This is one of those pieces of equipment that you buy and think ''hmmm, a bit pricey, and the baby will grow out of it so quickly'' .
However, I have found, so far, that it has been worth every pound spent. It is just perfect for early weaning for that really awkward stage when your baby is too young to sit in a high chair and too big to be fed in the crook of your arm.
It really does free your hands and makes feeding a cynch.
It is also great for letting baby sit and watch you going about your business. I also put a baby gym in front of mine and she sits and happily bashes away at the toys. It is also brilliant to take out and about so the baby has somewhere safe, clean and suitable to sit wherever you are.
To me, the baby is safe and secure. I can't see, at this stage (5 months) how she can possibly fall out of it, although I can see that an older baby could easily reach down to touch the ground with their hand and topple out - but as I say, a much older baby who would probably be more mobile by then anyway. I would always recommend keeping it on the floor but if you must put it on a raised, flat surface, never take your eyes off it. Never put it on a soft surface like a sofa or bed as it would and does very easily topple over.
This is a more sturdy design with a wider base or footprint than the Lionheart BeBePod so I feel it has the edge in this regard. I also feel that if your baby is on the larger side or taller than average, this is a seat that you will get more use of.
I guess I can't possibly see a baby sitting in it up to the age of 14 months - they may actually fit in it still, but getting them to stay put would be another matter! So realistically you will get less than a few months reliable use of it - but what crucial months they are!
Helps baby sit up - secure, supervised sitting! September 1, 2008 The Village Green Preservation Society (Heavenly Devon) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The bumbo seat is made of a strong, foam based substance and gives when pressed. When baby sits in it, the design of the bumbo and baby's own body weight supports them in a sitting position. Baby needs to be able to support their head. My son seems happy in it for short periods - he may get more used to it as time goes on - but is happier in his bouncy chair. However I would highly recommend the bumbo as a useful aid when feeding baby, before they can sit in a high chair. I wouldn't dream of leaving my son alone it - I can see ways that he could get out of it, by leaning backwards or forwards, especially as he gets bigger. I also wouldn't use it on an elevated surface, for fear of him toppling it. That said he hasn't fallen out of it or even managed to rock it - these are merely my new mum worries! You can get a tray to go on the front of the bumbo (which I haven't seen on amazon) which fits well and helps again with feeding. So - 5 stars but baby still needs supervision!

I bought this for my 3 month old daughter as she was fed up sitting/lying in her bouncer chair. She could hold her head up and I thought this looked a comfy alternative. She really enjoyed being so close to us when we used it at mealtimes on the table (always supervised and well within arms reach!) but recently (she's now 4.5 months) she's been trying to lean to reach things on the table or floor and when she gets cross she can make herself rigid and sit up almost out of it! I would probably still recommend it to a friend, but it's not for the most active of babies!
Love it! August 27, 2009 L. Miller (Bristol, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My daughter is 4 months old and loves sitting up although she can't do this on her own yet. This meant I was forever holding her so she could play and look around at what was going on in the room. The Bumbo was a life saver. She can have a bit more independence and I can have my arms back to get on with other things while she is playing. She is safe in it and cannot push herself out or tip herself over. It is so lightweight that it is a very handy seat to throw into the car to take to friends and relatives. It saves her having to be held all day which ends up annoying her as she likes to be able to sit and play on her own for a while. I would recommend getting the tray to go with it though. I didnt and my daughter kept dropping her toys and getting frustrated. I ended up buying the tray seperately and she will now sit in it contently for much longer.
Bumbo Jumbo April 12, 2009 Mr. J. Oliveti (Leics, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My wife bought this a few weeks ago (way before we needed it) so it's only in the last week we have started to use this seat. Our child is 3 months old exactly but a bigger than average size. Over the last few days he has sat in it whilst we have had dinner. We plonk him on the table as he just likes being around us as this allows him to do that. It's a great idea so the baby can start to see all things around them instead of being stuck looking at the ceiling. A great little buy.
