Its a thermometer....! February 27, 2007 P. A. Cogger (right here!) 59 out of 73 found this review helpful
For Pete's sake - this is nothing more than a thermometer - its just wrapped up in fancy packaging and colours... Have you ever heard of the "Emporer's new clothes"? Trust me, as the father of two kids who spent endless nights worrying about their well-being (and the temperature of the central heating) - you have nothing to worry about. If you have ever watched Dragon's Den - this is no more than a gizmo - trying to solve a problem that doesn't nee solving... You would be doing your child a greater favour by putting the money you would spend on this item in a high interest savings account and letting enjoy the money in 15 years time.
This product should be banned. March 7, 2007 Samuel P. Mills (United Kingdom) 28 out of 34 found this review helpful
Experiment: If you have one, turn off all the heating, open all the windows until your house is freezing. Chances are this product will, after hours of your being blisteringly cold, still be red, aka "dangerously high temperatures for your child". - Completely inaccurate at it's only function. considering you are using this to ensure the temperature of your child is a safe one, I cannot believe this passed any kind of product testing before it is as accurate as a regular thermometre. - I advise against using this for anything other than a nightlight. - If you do wish to ensure your child is at the correct temperature (I believe around 18 degrees is optimum), buy an actual thermometre.
It doesn't tell the temperature accurately... February 23, 2007 K. McCabe (Edinburgh) 23 out of 32 found this review helpful
The only function of this egg is to tell the temperature - but that doesn't work! Mine consistently reads about 3-4 degrees warmer than the temperature reported by another thermometer, and reads as being too warm even in a room that is slightly chilly
Junk - avoid it and save your money February 21, 2007 Mr. C. D. England 21 out of 30 found this review helpful
Bought this based on the reviews on a number of sites. Obviously it works great for the testing period and so gets good results. The one I purchased was used for a couple of hours a day and went wrong within 3 months. The LCD display started losing parts of its numbers until it finally gave up less than 4 months in. It was probably used for less than 50 hours in total - as stated elsewhere though it does make quite a nice glow - oh until that fails too... [...].
Perfect product February 23, 2007 N. Halliday (UK) 20 out of 34 found this review helpful
We bought this a couple of months ago for our boys Oscar and Jake. It feels really well-built and tactile, and does exactly what it's supposed to. I've verified the colour changes using a digital thermometer, and they are pretty much spot on. Most importantly, it just works right out the box - no complicated calibration process, just unpack it and away you go. Being new to this whole baby thing, we've managed to collect any number of gadgets, most of which were destined for the boot-sale almost before we'd got them home. This is one item we'll be keeping - highly recommended.
