Not as good as "Hurt Locker"
Too frantic in places, I don't like the MTV-style jumpy camera action sequences, i'd rather see what's going on, but an interesting slant on the whole WMD scenario.

The star and this director can do no wrong in my book!

Nice try, but... September 1, 2010 Teemacs (Switzerland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've read the excellent book "Imperial life in the Emerald City" from which this film derives its inspiration. The book is much more surreal than this film, in that blatantly Republican political considerations shaped the Iraqi occupation after the fall of Saddam. (One of the questions asked of prospective US Administrators was their opinion of Roe v. Wade, and a world-renowned expert in country rebuilding was rejected and a political appartchik seleted, because the former had some Democrat connections). Such things are the stuff of a documentary, not a feature film.
Nevertheless, this film gamely attempts to characterise the book, in that it sees it all through the eyes of a fictitious WMD searcher. The message is clear, but to me it comes across as too pat and simplistic, and the ending is silly. But it tried, and it deserves some credit for that.
Ok/Average/Good/Lacklustre/ nothing special September 6, 2010 Mr. S. Mullins Worth watching but doesnt really grip you like Greengrasses other films (inc, 'Bloody Sunday' which is excellent).
