I've never bought a Michael Jackson DVD before, though I've always been a huge fan of his "short films". The Number Ones CD is a superb compilation so I had no hesitation in picking up this DVD - obviously, I was hoping for full versions of the BAD, Thriller and Smooth Criminal videos, the latter being my absolute favourite.
Well, you get the full version of Thriller, but that is it really. The original Smooth Criminal isn't even on there - instead we get some blurry sped up montage from the Moonwalker film. Absolutely gutted.
To make matters worse, the picture quality is poor - most videos are grainy and aren't even rendered in full 16:9. Apparently, there are 3 videos on here that are exclusive, but that is scant consolation for me. From the sound of things, HIStory vols 1 & 2 are all that you need if you want to own the late, great Michael Jackson's videos so I guess I'm just going to have to wait 4 weeks or so before I can get a copy!!

This is a great collection for anyone who wants an easy to watch version of Michael's "Greatest Hits" videos. There are some great versions, in the main the ones that are played on TV with the story removed and the focus on the dancing. The big disappointment is "Smooth Criminal", in my opinion Michael's masterpiece - what we get is the "official" version which is speeded up and blurred and intercut with chase scenes. If you want the full dancing version of "Smooth Criminal" then you need to buy "Moonwalker", and a slightly shortened version is on "History". I'm still trying to track down the 4 minute version usually shown on TV. But despite the obvious disappointment of "Smooth Criminal", this is still a great DVD - worth the price for "Bad" and "Thriller", never mind all the other goodies.

I ordered this for my daughter but have returned it. There was a fault on the dvd. On Bad the voice was slightly out of sync, and on Smooth Criminal the video is running at fast forward so all you see is a blur. We sent it back and got a replacement but the replacement was exactly the same so that has gone back too :-(
Smooth Criminal is my daughters favourite track so there was no point keeping it for the other tracks.
 A wonderful tribute to a great performer. Thank you Michael! July 30, 2009

Fantastic to have all his "Number Ones" on one DVD. A fitting memorial to the great Michael Jackson. His fans will miss him a lot but thankfully his music will live on.

This was a planned purchase even before MJ died, so I was pleased that it was still in stock! Not originally English, I think - actual DVD is labelled in German and there's no info leaflet with it.
Great to have so many well-known song videos on one DVD, although 'Smooth Criminal' is not the best version.
Pity about the quality - I get picture break-up quite badly on 'Thriller', less so on one or two of the other tracks.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase though - especially good to have the complete version of 'earthsong'!
