This I found was a lot better than the first { and that was fanatastic}. Following his family roots to modern day was a journey I really enjoyed and can not wait to see again. Lets hope they release the Christmas special very soon.
It should be 5 stars but...November 7, 2007 Agent47(United Kingdom) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
At first when I unwrapped this boxset I was shocked to find that "The Next Generations" set had the wrong inner artwork on it. But I eventually got passed that error. "The Next Generations" is as good as the Original series but is not as gripping. Gone are the images of slavery and blatant racism which are replaced more uplifting tones in the story such as family and education for the decendants of Kunte Kinte. This series is more positive than the original which is a good thing. I just wish more effort could have gone into the '30th Anniversary' and 'The Next Generations'. The only extra in this set is a 5 minute documentary and commentary (I think). So much more effort always goes in to the more mainstream fims/series. This set seems slighty rushed but overall it is as best as we're going to get for the moment.

The covers on the inner casings are from "Roots - 30th anniversary edition". Gave me a little shock, when I first got them out. But they contained the right DVDs, so don't be afraid if it happens to you - and it doesn't bother me. But if you're looking for a "perfect" presentation you might want to get information wether that is a general error and -in this case- wait for a correction. First look on the DVD: great picture-quality, can't wait to watch all of it.
