Amazon.co.uk Review The 1994 box-office hit that turned comedy maniac Jim Carrey into Hollywood's first $20-million man, this gag-filled no-brainer stars Carrey as the titular rubber-faced gumshoe who tracks down lost pets for his heartbroken clients. Ace's latest case involves the apparent kidnapping of the Miami Dolphins' team mascot, Snowflake the dolphin. His investigation is a source of constant aggravation for Miami police lieutenant Lois Einhorn (Sean Young), who turns out to be packing more than a pistol under her skirt. Friends fans will appreciate the presence of Courtney Cox, who remains admirably straight-faced as the Dolphins' publicist and Ace's would-be girlfriend, but of course it's Carrey who steals the show with shameless abandon. One viewing may suffice for a lot of people, but Carrey's hyper antics made Ace Ventura: Pet Detective one of the bestselling videos of the 1990s. --Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

Jim Carrey rules... November 4, 2002 Mr. A. Heinemann 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Although this is quite old now, it's a film no-one can get tired of. I must've seen every Jim Carrey film at least 15 times, and it's the way he accentuates his face and he can act so outrageously and not laugh at himself that really makes me laugh. In this one, the Miami Dolphins have lost their dolphin. Ace is called onto the scene to investigate. He makes some hilarious mistakes and talks with his bum. Don't let that put you off, though - it's an excellent film. As with all Jim Carrey films, he uses his face muscles in a way that depicts exactly what he's thinking, and does it in a very funny way. For a Jim Carrey fan, this is laughter at its source. If you don't enjoy Jim Carrey, I suggest you get counselling.
Just buy this film you wont regret it. January 5, 2004 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This film is in one word: fantastic. Jim Carey plays the main character Ace Ventura whose job it is to find lost pets of his clients. His newest assignment is to find the Miami dolphin's mascot: Snowflake and quarterback Dan Marino. This film is hysterical and will have you splitting your sides at Ace talking through his bum, his dress sense and his charm with the ladies. I recommend this film to anyone who enjoyed other films staring Carey that man is a comic Genius.
By far the greatest jim carrey film to date December 29, 2004 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
One of the greatest comedy films available out their, with a mixture of one of the greatest comedy actors ever and brilliant standout scenes, this film is amazing. There is no other word to describe it.Jim Carrey shines in the role of Ace Ventura; almost like he was born to play it. With one of the funniest parts in a film ever, were Ace is in the mental instituation (Particularly as he tries to squeeze into a box) this film will keep any normal person laughing for a long time, it is an amazing amount of fun. If you are a comedy fan this must be in your collection, if it isn't then you should be ashamed of yourself. One fantastic film from one very unique actor.

Oustanding, one of my favourite movies ever. I just love the "randomness" of it. And i can't get over his sayings such as "GRAVY" and "if im not back in 5 minutes, just wait longer". Courtney cox also plays her role well but i think this is Jim Carrey's greatest film up until today. His expressions can turn in a split second. Plus he has a but which can sing opra - how cool is that ! Deffinately 5 stars for me maybe even 6.
