Hold off from buying this just yet as there are some scenes in the third episode that have been switched around. Once 2Entertain repress the discs that's the time to buy it.

4 out of 5 stars A Nice Nostalgic Romp.   March 21, 2008

I love the two items that make up this duo boxset.

The Invisible Enemy is one of those stories from the period when Doctor Who was just fun to watch, it's as simple as that. The story is a homage to the classic film The Fantastic Voyage and sees a similar plot device in that miniturised individuals take a journey inside someone's brain to cure a terminal virus, in this case the Doctor's. All sheer nonsense but fun.

The Invisible Enemy is notable for portraying the finest model shots the classic series ever had, the Titan Base and the surrounding Saturn area and all the spaceships flying around look absolutely fantastic and was a major achivement for 1977, it stands up even against the new series.
Tom Baker is once again on fine form as the Doctor and this saw the first appearance of K9. The story itself is rubbish, but who cares about that when the production standards are so good. Delightful.

K9 and Company is even better and was the first true spin-off of Doctor Who, long before the days of Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures this 60 minute gem was delighting christmas audiences with it's wit and charm.
The title character maybe K9 but the real star and focus of the piece is the great Elisabeth Sladen as the great Sarah Jane Smith. The impact of this production had far reaching effects into the main Doctor Who series with story strands dovetailing into The Five Doctors and of course the new series with the episode School Reunion which would never have happened if not for this, culminating in the above mentioned SJA.
I'm not going into plot details but the whole thing does have that christmas special sort of feel and indeed I do dig the VHS out every now and then at that time of year.

An absolutely splendid couple of nostalgic productions.

Don't buy this until 2E sort out the huge authouring error on the invisible enemy disc which really effects episode 3 badly. Poor quality control, must do better.

UPDATE, I WAITED TILL AMAZON RESTOCKED THIS DISC BEFORE ORDERING AND THEY STILL SENT ME THE FAULTY ONE. BUYER BEWARE

Finally got a correct version from amazon thanks

1 out of 5 stars FAULTY DVD - DO NOT BUY   June 17, 2008

Just echoing the views of others. The first DVD suffers from a well-publicised authoring problem. Do NOT buy this set at this time. If Amazon had any sense, they'd delist this set for the moment: they will only be getting a whole bunch of box-sets back which'll cost them a smallish fortune in postage.

1 out of 5 stars HUGE FAULT ON THE DVD   June 11, 2008

Details have been released that 'The Invisible Enemy' suffers from an authoring fault when viewing episode three. Halfway through the episode scenes from the end of the story appear. My advice is NOT to buy this faulty dvd until the issue is fixed.
