Amazon.co.uk Review
Beginning with the death of a senator and ending with a marriage, the second season of Bones builds on the momentum created during the first season. The second season centres on the collaborations between FBI special agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel), whom Booth has nicknamed "Bones." While Booth doesn't completely believe in Bones' method, he can't argue with her success rate at solving crimes. As for Bones, she is meticulous at what she does and is a borderline genius, but she has issues. Seemingly oblivious to her own good looks, she is all but socially inept. Booth may be blunt, but he's comfortable dealing with the public. Bones, on the other hand, would rather be sequestered away with the dead, trying to figure out what happened before their uncertain deaths. Of course, while viewers can see that Bones and Booth would be a perfect couple, the characters aren't quite there yet. Their friendship becomes a little more complicated this season when it turns out that Bones' new demanding boss, Dr. Camille Saroyan (Tamara Taylor), is a former girlfriend of Booth's. And the two women aren't getting along.

Still, everyone is able to work together to solve a series of crimes, such as identifying the remains of an all but unidentifiable teenage boy and dealing with a serial killer who is emulating the crimes depicted in Bones' latest mystery novel. (Yes, she's not only a brilliant scientist but also an ace author.) Like many television dramas where forensic evidence is a driving force in the plots, Bones offers up the gross-out autopsies. But it also serves up a lot of humanity in the way the characters interact with one another. It is giving nothing away to reveal that Bones and Booth are not the couple getting married in the season finale. But the episode does reveal that beneath their tough exteriors, marriage and all that it implies is something they wouldn't mind... perhaps even with each other. --Jae-Ha Kim

5 out of 5 stars Better and better   August 10, 2007

I thought series 1 was good, but wow! Series 2 is even better.
The chemistry between Booth and Bones grows, despite her having a love interest! The remaining characters grow and develop and there's a new boss at top to replace Dr. Goodman. Dr. Camille Saroyan comes in with all guns smoking and past relationship with Booth.
The story lines, I think, are stronger and make more use of all the characters. Just brilliant. Rent or buy, but watch it!

Are you, like me, a great "Bones" fan? Then you have already watched this second season, but still want to buy this dvd, because you know you will want to watch all the episodes again. Strange? Not for real fans of this show :)

In case you are you reading this review just by chance, and haven't watched the first season of "Bones", take advantage of this opportunity to give a promising new show a chance, but remember to watch first "Bones: season 1".

Do you want to know more about this series, before doing so? Well, the main characters are Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel), a forensic anthropologist that works at the Jeffersonian and writes novels in her free time. Temperance and some of her coworkers somehow end up helping the FBI to solve old crimes. Their contact is an FBI agent called Seely Booth (David Boreanaz), and even though they don't see eye to eye at first, they end up making a strange but oddly charming team. Believe me, even if the general plot of "Bones" doesn't seem to be outstanding, the show is something special, so good that if you give it a chance you will become a fan.

On the whole, I can say that I saw every episode of this second season of "Bones", and that it is even better than the first. From my point of view, this great tv series combines originality, interesting whodunnits and characters that make you laugh, and sometimes even think more than usual. It is entertainment, but good entertainment, the kind you can recommend to others, exactly what I'm doing right now :)

I might have to wait until October before I can watch the whole season through, but at least I know the wait will be worth it.
Season two has enthralling story lines, love the episode where bones is buried in the car, almost a touch of the MacGyver's,fantastic!!
The cast are familar faces, and the humour, and oddities are all there. Zack almost grows up and there's even a romance, what more can anyone want.If you buy you will not be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars CSI: Washington?   February 7, 2008

"Bones" is back for a second series - or is it?
In the first series we met forensic anthropologist Dr Temperance "Bones" Brennan and her team at the Jeffersoniian Institute in Washington, doing what museum scientists do with old bones and minerals and occasionally helping out the FBI in the shape of Agent Booth (David Boreanaz). This resulted in a series of entertaining crime-solving episodes and some interesting sexual tension between the socially-dysfunctional Brennan and the outgoing streetwise Booth.
And now? A pathologist has been brought in over Brennan's head, to lead the team and increase the scope for character interaction as she's an attractive and strong woman who just happens to be an old flame of Booth's. She's doing autopsies and leading the now predominantly crime-fighting lab team - in a museum! And a museum with minimal security and no sign of respect for the chain of evidence at that. Brennan spends a lot of time in the car or on the streets with Booth as they chase down leads and confront witnesses and bad guys, just like a couple of cops. Is this what she is a world expert in bone-examination for? Come to think of it, is this what a Supervising Special Agent (who admittedly doesn't usually have any other agents around to supervise) in the FBI is supposed to be doing with his time? Work that in any other TV series is done by a pair of detectives? Doesn't the FBI itself have greater priorities than work which belongs to the regular police? This cop-show feel is heightened by the way that both Brennan and Booth now regulalry refer to the other as "my partner".
Don't get me wrong, it's as entertaining, enjoyable to watch, and often rather far-fetched as series one, and the wittiness of the script writing is if anything better. But the things that made "Bones" different from "CSI" and "NCIS" (both of which I also enjoy) have either gone or been significantly diluted. It would have been more honest if they had renamed it "CSI: Washington".

5 out of 5 stars Angry at the lack of fairness   September 13, 2007

Since Virginmedia and Sky had their tiff over something so inane that I can't even remember it, I and most others have missed the entire season 2 and thus have to spend the money to see it. It would be nice to see the production company taking a notice of that and seeing about getting one of the unaffected channels, like maybe FX, or even a terrestrial channel, to let us see it so we have a little more choice about being ripped off. But loving the series so much, since it's a great change from most others, of course I'll be getting the DVDs and in the meantime re-watching season 1.
