Amazon.co.uk Review Regularly touted as one of the best British sitcoms ever, Only Fools and Horses kicked off in 1981 when mobile phones were the size of bricks and wine bars were the ultimate places to hang out in. The formula was simple enough: Cockney wide boy Derek Trotter (brilliantly played by David Jason) dreams of better things for himself while sharing a cramped council flat in the nicely named Peckham tower block Nelson Mandela House with his unworldly brother Rodney and his sweet but doddery old granddad. Trouble is, Del's endless money-making schemes (such as his attempt to flog a consignment of one-legged turkeys, or his plan to sell bottled tap water) inevitably backfire, like the knackered old van he uses to cart around all this faulty gear. Created by John Sullivan, who also sings the very catchy theme song, Only Fools and Horses is a wonderful mix of dodgy but loveable characters (such as Del Boy's dimwit friend Trigger), knockabout slapstick (no one falls down with as much comedic grace as Jason), and brilliantly crafted dialogue. The show ran seven seasons and ended with characteristic warmth in 1991, when Del Boy became a father; but the Trotters made occasional returns to the small screens with six hugely popular one-off Christmas specials. As Del Boy himself might say: "Lovely jubbly." --Edward Lawrenson Product Description Here together in one collection is every episode plus the specials of Britain's best-loved comedy series! Crafty cockney con man Derek Trotter (David Jason) dreams of making a fortune, but each dodgy deal and shady scheme always seems to end in disaster. And then there's his family to look after: loveable but hapless kid brother, Rodney; doddery old Grandad; and ex-seafaring Uncle Albert. This hilarious, life-affirming series is one of the most popular on British television, and the annual Only Fools and Horses Christmas specials became as fundamental a British holiday tradition as Christmas crackers and the Queen's Address to the Commonwealth. Only Fools and Horses boasts 13 top comedy awards including two Best Comedy BAFTAs, and the series finale, "Sleepless in Peckham" was viewed by two out of three British households on Christmas Day, 2003.

Don't be a fool September 27, 2007 Steve (Warrington) 260 out of 269 found this review helpful
I must say despite the excellent design the content is a huge disappointment. Why ? Well like most people who buy this boxset we have already seen them in their complete and unedited glory on the BBC and now UKGold. Wouldn't it be great to have the same episodes to play whenever we desired at home. Think again. Countless episodes are edited to such an extent that dialogue has been cut, scenes have been deleted and musical scores altered. So much so that avid fools fans will watch with annoyance. The fact the BBC couldn't pay for the rights to play the original background music within scenes is criminal, they must have made millions from the Only Fools franchise. If you have the time tape the episodes off UKGold. I still wait for the genuine complete collection.
5* for only fools 0* for the box set October 4, 2007 SHANN (England, London) 70 out of 73 found this review helpful
I only give this 5* because Only Fools is a great British classic. As a previous reviewer says correctly it is incredibly frustrating that they churn out these box sets at christmas with half the decent stuff missing. The musical scores are not all there, scenes and dialogue frustratingly deleted. How much is it to ask for a truly complete box set, especially with how much it costs. I've already got all the dvds individually - whats the point of now buying this unless there is genuinly something new. I would also (although this will probably never happen) love to have Red Dwarf calibre extras. Those who buy the red dwarf series will know what I mean when you get an incredible amount of behind the scenes and other extras which are worth the money in themselves. Its a shame that the BBC is again trying to churn out another boxset with a different cover to milk this great franchise.
Thanks Steve From Warrington October 26, 2007 Ultimate Reviewer (Earth) 69 out of 74 found this review helpful
Thanks to Steve from Warrington I have just saved myself near a 100. I had no idea (and never even thought) that the episodes wouldn't have all the original music in them and figured they would be the same as on the BBC. Thank you steve. There is no way I will buy this now. P.S - Notice how your post rating a great comedy 2 stars got a string of helpful votes. 17 or 19 at present. Usually if you say a word out of place you get the "only 1 out of 23" found this helpful treatment. Gievn your stats, I would say a lot of people were shocked and saved a lot of money. Are you listening BBC. Cheapos!
Bonnet de douche !!! December 13, 2006 Andrew G. Petrie (London, UK) 62 out of 70 found this review helpful
The all time classic unbeatable sitcom. I seriously doubt there will ever be anything to touch this. This box set has it all, every episode of every series, all the christmas specials and a making of special where all the main characters and writers talk about their inspiration for the series. Even if you're not a fan, its hard to watch these episodes and not shed tears of nostalgia and laughter.
