Frasier Series 5 October 21, 2006 A. S. D. Stewart (Leicester, UK) 61 out of 64 found this review helpful
Having been extremely impatient and ordered the Series 5-11 (not including Series 9 or 10, as they are not available yet) I have the fortune to have watched this DVD box set again and again. It is extremely funny and the episodes in Frasier continue to get better and better just like a wine (perhaps as Frasier would put it). Amongst this fantastic season are Voyage of the Damned (the Cranes take a trip on a cruise liner with some very good lines and situations), The Ski Lodge (probably one of the best in the entire show's history in which Frasier, Niles, Daphne and two others attempt to chase one another although their pursuits are interested in other people BRILLIANT)... and many more of course. All Frasier fans should get this and all comedy fans should get this aswell. The 24 episodes in Series 5 of Frasier are: 1. Frasier's Imaginary Friend 2. The Gift Horse 3. Halloween 4. The Kid 5. The 1000th Show 6. Voyage of the Damned 7. My Fair Frasier 8. Desparately Seeking Closure 9. Perspectives on Christmas 10. Where Every Bloke Knows Your Name 11. Ain't Nobody's Business If "I Do" 12. The Zoo Story 13. The Maris Counsellor 14. The Ski Lodge 15. Room Service 16. Beware of the Greeks 17. The Perfect Guy 18. Bad Dog 19. Frasier Gotta Have It 20. First Date 21. Roz and the Schnoz 22. The Life of the Party 23. Party, Party 24. Sweet Dreams Hope you enjoy!!!!! 5 Stars Defintely!!!!!
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! September 27, 2006 j.d (London,England) 29 out of 38 found this review helpful
Finally season 5 of the most fabulous show makes an apperance! After around 18 months of season 4 being released it's finally here! Season 5 has great episodes like the one where Roz discovers she is pregnant and the one where Frasier gets fired.
Underrated January 8, 2007 Me123 (Glasgow) 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
Fans have been waiting for Season 5 for 16 months now, and it has finally arrived! This is a fantastic season, clearly underrated by many people. There is a lot of progression in the Niles/Maris storyline (i won't include a spoiler here), and this si one of the main aspects of the season. Naturally, such incidents lead to beautiful episodes like "First Date", where the Chemistry between Niles and Daphne (Hyde-Pearce and Leeves) is amazing. It can be seen here that something must happern to these two pivotal characters. ] There is also a shock for Roz, leading to a huge storyline for her (the first storyline of the type Gilpin has been given in the series) and some spectacular perfromances from Frasier's producer. The final crucial storyline appears in the last episode of the season, and will surely tip the balance of KACL for the remainder of the run. Whilst this may not be as funny a season as the fourth, it seems to focus on pursuing the storyline and developing the characters more, which is needed in Frasier. Fans now long to see Season 6 and how the second season-season cliffhanger is resolved. Thankfully, paramount have scheduled a May release, but be wary: they have changed before. In conclusion, this is a fantastic season full of laughs, but not yo be taken light heartedly. I can assure you that, after this, you will ling for Season 6! I know I have, to the point that I have already ordered it from America.
Great situations, peerless comedy in the best sitcom ever! January 1, 2007 Frasier Fanatic (Wexford, Ireland) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Season Five is here at last - and includes The Ski Lodge, an episode of such exquisitely crafted farce it ranks as one of the best Frasiers ever. But there are other delights, like the episode where Roz meets the big-nosed grandparents-to-be of her unborn child. When Niles announces he is leaving for a dog show and the wife declares 'my husband and I have giant Schnauzers', the entire cast is visibly helpless with laughter. And the Perspectives On Christmas episode, with the same Yuletide shown over again through the eyes of the different characters, is just joyously inventive. This is the best season available on Region 2 DVD yet, but please don't make us wait so long for Season 6!
Still funny after five series January 6, 2007 L O'connor (richmond, surrey United Kingdom) 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
Series Five of Frasier is not my favourite, but they are still managing to get a lot of laughs, and the series contains some absolutely hilarious episodes. 'Halloween' is one of my favourites, where Niles gives a fancy dress party at his posh new apartment, and Roz finds out she's pregnant. Niles of course gets the wrong end of the stick and thinks it's Daphne who's in the family way and proposes to her. Another great episode is 'Voyage of the Damned' where Frasier, Niles, Martin and Roz all go on a cruise to Alaska, and Maris turns out to be one of the other passengers. The bit where, Frasier, Martin and Roz all end up hiding in Maris's bathroom is absolutely hilarious. In 'Zoo Story' Frasier has ditched his unscrupulous agent Bebe in favour of a hopelessly nice and totally ineffectual man while Bebe schemes to get Frasier back. Of course she succeeds eventually, how could Bebe ever fail?In 'The Maris Counsellor', Niles thinks he is going to get back together with Maris, but gets a terrible shock. 'The ski Lodge' is played like a classic French farce, with everyone running in and out of each other's bedrooms, and everybody ending up with the wrong person (and STILL Dopey Daphne doesn't realise that Niles is crazy about her, how dim can you get?). Probably my favourite episode of all from this series though is 'Room Service' in which Lilith returns to Seattle distraught because her husband has left her for another man, a contractor who was working on their master bedroom. "It's ironic, isn't it?" she says to Roz "No sooner do I get the closet of my dreams, than my husband comes out of it." Frasier is afraid he may succumb to Lilith's charms once again, but instead it is Niles who ends up spending a night of passion with her, and the result is quite painfully funny. The series has its lows as well as it's highs, some episodes get too bogged down in sentimentality for my tastes, and Daphne's obtuseness continues to get on my nerves, but overall this DVD is worth every penny.
