Green Wing - Series 2 May 24, 2006 shell (scotland) 40 out of 43 found this review helpful
Just when I thought it couldnt get any funnier than the first series, it did!!!!!!! I would give it a 6 if I could! Series 2 picks up where series 1 left off. We find out Mac is in a coma, Guy has had his driving licence revoked, Martin has the use of his legs back and is excited about having found out that he has a brother and Caroline acting like Florence Nightengale at Macs bedside (thats when shes not lying on the hospital bed with him!). Watch out for Sue White and her obsession with Mac as it escalates into something you could never in a million years contemplate. Hysterically funny and downright wrong! If you saw the original series you wont want to miss the second. An absolute must have - and I cant stress that enough! Cant wait for the third series!
Just as funny... July 1, 2006 Lazy wolf eyes (The windmills of your bum) 21 out of 26 found this review helpful
...If not funnier than the first series. The second series is utter brilliance. This series has many twists and turns, including a spectacular finale, making you cry out for more. More plot based than the first series, the second series manages to be hilarious as well as dealing with well constructed plotlines. The great thing about Green wing is the fact that the characters are so well developed, you can't help but get really involved, sometimes to a slightly psychopathic degree. (I often found myself getting too excited when Caroline Kissed Guy). Highlights of this series include Guy's keyboard scene; where he does a superb version of 'bright eyes', Alan being set on fire, A horrible incident with a penknife, and of course, a conclusion (or is it) of the love triangle between Caroline, Mac and Guy. If you haven't seen this gem then I strongly suggest you buy this, as well as the fantastic first series.
Dont put it down! September 16, 2006 Mr. T. Pope (Kingsbridge, Devon) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
I've been driven to write!! Firstly can i say that Green Wing has to be the most orginal comedy ever... lots of things come close but the superb editing and just overall "cool" makes it shine.... I think it takes certain people to find this sort of humour funny, probably it will come apparent that I am one of them!! The more you love the program and watch it the more you see! (Speaking from hefty experience with the first series!) It annoys me when people "put down" second series of things like this. Some genres (the Simpsons) are almost ever lasting, the inter-character relations being balanced so well they can go on and on; loosing nothing on the way.... Green Wing I doubt will be one of these programs. There is only so far you can go with such a brilliant piece of work as this. But please - lets make no pretence - the second series lost absolutly nothing to the first. In my experience people just like to seem clever and "in the know" by putting this series down - often only ever having seen a few episodes themselves. Only my opinion but seems to fit the match so far! Ive rambled! To put it straight, Green Wing is as brilliant as ever in this series, and, perhaps most important of all, has not grown stale with development. Every scene keps its sparkle, and any true fan will savour another 9 episodes of Caroline, Mac, Guy et al. The only question left now is - are you a fan at all?!
Brilliant comedy June 6, 2006 C. Nobes (Cambridge, UK) 17 out of 21 found this review helpful
After becoming a huge favourite of mine, it was quite a wait for the second series. However, it was worth it, and Green Wing series two is as funny as the first, whilst developing the characters in all kinds of directions, giving them a greater depth and yet retaining and building on what makes them all so appealing. Whilst series 2 has more emphasis on the plot-side than series 1, (predominantly the changing relationship of the 3 main characters, which is fascinating, very funny and quite painful at times) it still has its random comedy moments that made the first series for me, mainly courtesy of the fantastic Sue White and the so-cringeworthy-it's-funny Alan. Though Guy and his keyboard will always be my favourite! Its fair to say that if you liked series 1 you will definately like series 2. If you haven't seen series 1 I'd still recommend getting series 1 first, as it will allow you to fully appreciate the development of the characters, but you will be back for series 2 I'm sure of it.
Pure Genius!!! September 20, 2006 TellyAddict (London, UK) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
Green Wing gets better and better!! I love this series!! It's refreshing to see a British comedy that is so experimental with the style and content, pushing the boundaries of the conventional sketch show format, by having a much stronger narrative structure. It's a welcome departure from the usual half hour comedy sketch shows currently on offer, and by composing sequences of shots to music, and varying the speed of shot in-between perfectly timed visual gags and one-liners, it really is the epitome of innovative and clever comedy writing. The cast are funny and fit too!!
