Mira Sorvino and Mariah Carey gain credit and respect in their strong performances in this mob style story that has a serious and deep side. While Carey may have been given poor reviews for "Glitter", she shows that with a character with depth, versatility and a complex side, she can use the versatility and professionalism applied to her music career to deliver with a strong and credible style. Sorvino follows with depth, complementing Carey in delivering a story line with punch, grit and a stark reality of its genre. "Wisegirls" may have a slightly tacky title, but there is nothing tacky about the performance and untamed nature of the story line. An excellent film.

Without a doubt one of the best films I've ever seen. I also have no doubt that had Mariah Carey not been in it a lot more people would have been willing to give it a chance, but whatever you think about her, whatever the critics have said, she delivers the part of Raychel amazingly. The story about the strength of friendship (focussed around a gang of Italian mobsters) takes a lot of twists along the way and is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, it should be on everybody's list of must-see movies.

I really thought this movie was going to be bad. But its really quite alright! Its a good story and its got great acting from mira sorvino. Mariah carey's acting is really good in this (so dont underestimate mariah because of glitter)she o.k. overall a good movie!

I was really not expecting this film to be particularly good but trust me it was amazing! Fantastic acting (yes including mariah!) and excellent story and twist. Give it a chance, you won't be disappointed!
A very surprising film June 29, 2004
I was very surprised upon watching this film on how gritty and good it was.
