ONG-BAK GONE CRAZY! September 2, 2008 Contenderas (UK) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I saw this on a recent trip to Thailand (where the movie was filmed) when I was taken to see the movie by a journo friend who was bigging it up. I expected a pretty poor imitation to Ong-Bak if I'm being honest, but I was pretty BLOWN AWAY! From the Ong-Bak / Warrior King producers, Chocolate is a new all-action, stunt-packed, martial arts fest featuring some truly memorable moments. The story follows a teenage girl who visits several of her mum's ex-mafia partners to collect debts to pay for her now sick mother's hospital bills. Of course, no one wants to pay up, so she takes matters into her own fighting hands. I loved the fact that the lead action star was female for a change. Her skills are just amazing - what else can I say? I also loved the fact that half the movie wasn't devoted to trying to make her a sex symbol for the male audience. Instead, the movie concentrates on making her seem like a real fighter with a real cause - refreshing stuff! So in conclusion, a more than worthy successor to Ong-Bak, Tony Jaa and Warrior King. If you like these, you will love Chocolate. PS. Look out for the stunts-gone-wrong out-takes over the credits at the end - totally crazy stuff!
Better Then Ong Bak!!! November 10, 2008 Mr. T. Evans (Worthing, near brighton, in the UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Purchased this movie on DVD yesterday and have got around to watching it today. It hasn't been blessed with the best of scripts, but the storyline is superb and the fight sequences are second to none! It also doesn't have the 3 rewinds and replays that come with every kick and punch thats made in Ong Bak. Something i feel really hindered and broke up what would otherwise have been a great movie... Just to add, JeeJa Yanin looks like one of the most promising exports in years!
Ignore the joyless soul below.............1 star? get out of here! December 2, 2008 David Bell (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Fantastic martial arts movie with characters you can care about. Some stunning choreography and set pieces (particularly the fight on the side of the building). Highly recommended for martial arts fans. Re: the reviewer below - ignore his 1 star review, it's an insult to the film!

The trailer for this film makes it look like a female and more light hearted version of Warrior King and Ong Bak, which lets face it, should be awesome. The scenes ive seen ahve great fight choreography and if this film is half as good as it looks it should be one of the top new age martial arts films out there.
dissapointing! November 14, 2008 kevin ward (bradford, england) 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this film on the basis of it being from the same team behind tony jaa's Ong Bak and Warrior King, and what a dissapointment! Lets face it none of us buy martial arts flicks for the gripping story so we all suspend our disbelief there and let the action make up for it but this isn't enough! The fights are well choreographed but the stunt men do most of the work for what is a highly skilled, very athletic & flexible, but seriously underpowered female lead. Changing the main charecter from a male to a female doesn't give the film "a refreshing twist" as one review says it just further points towards this film having nothing new to offer which I was really hoping it would. Making her some sort of autistic, handicapped child in need character makes no difference either. This film selling itself on the ong bak and warrior king ticket was like when the film spirited warrior was re-packaged as a Tony Jaa film. real fight fans will know this film and also know that a rip off it was, akin to the rebranding of no retreat no surrender as a Van Damme film. This film is in no way as bad as spirited warrior was, make no mistake there. Anyway, thats my first ever review on amazon, but it just shows how dissapointed I was with this film.
