Amazon.co.uk Review In this action thriller based on an early story by Stephen King, Los Angeles in the year 2017 has become a police state in the wake of the global economy's total collapse. All forms of entertainment are government controlled, and the most popular show on television is an elaborate game show in which convicted criminals are given a chance to escape by running through a gauntlet of brutal killers known as "Stalkers." Anyone who survives is given their freedom and a condominium in Hawaii, so when a wrongly accused citizen (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is chosen as a contestant, all hell breaks loose. Cheesy sets and a slimy role for game-show host Richard Dawson make this violent mess of mayhem a candidate for guilty pleasure; it is the kind of movie that truly devoted Arnold fans will want to watch more than once. And check those credits--choreography by Paula Abdul! --Jeff Shannon

Arnie's Greatest Film June 8, 2004 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
By far his greatest work! The characters in this are superb, particularly Jessy 'The Body' Ventura as captain Freedom! This film also features even more classic quotables than Terminator!"I live to see the day you eat that contract, but I hope you leave enough room for my fist, because I'm gonna ram it into your stomach and break your God Dam spine!!!! Arrrrrgh!!!" Go and buy it and watch it again and again!
Buy This Film Now & Tell A Friend Too! August 30, 2002 David Morgan 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
The Running Man is whithout a doubt one of Arnie's greatest achievments. The film has the action of 'Terminator 2', and the one liners of 'Commando' throw in one part 'Total Recall' and two parts 'Predator' and you've got a contender for the best film of all time. From the word go the Butcher of Bakersfield is on the run. And when Arnie's on the run you know it's gonna' be fun! But even the die hard fans don't deserve what happens next. Arnie becomes the contestent on a game show, fighting outragous enemies one by one, to the death. You could not wright Arnie a better script if you had "A Million Monkeys... and so on. Basically your only ever going to get so much from an Arnie film and this truly is as good as it gets. Buy it now, and tell a friend! amen!
Arnie at his jump-suit best! July 29, 2003 D. J. Burton (UK) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
This film boasts many superb features: Classic 80's soundtrack, quality hair-do's, fashion to be proud of, and of course - Arnie in one of his best performances. It's hard to go wrong!Anyone buying this DVD should not be interested in acting quality, depth of plot, or political correctness. But I don't think anyone will be - and therefore this film delivers exactly what you want - action, witty one-liners, a feel good plot, some nostalgia even, suspense and just general no-nonsense entertainment in abundance. You can't go wrong if you buy this DVD cos it's Arnie in one of his best films, and that's saying something!
Do i love the running man, YESSSSS! December 2, 2003 Tom Godsmark (Leicester) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
What a film. Arnie is outstanding as the infamous Ben Richards. The one liners are steaped as high as the eye can see. Starting with " You do, now i do" and "because i'm going to say pleeease!". This film is a work of art and should be bought by all people, it is fun for all the family. The guy from alien is also on form, especially with his dead pose, amazing. This is my personal favourite Arnie film and you can see why when you have listen to all the onliners, "YESSSSSSSS" "he had to spilt" "hey light head, christmas tree" "it's showtime" "that hit the spot" "i don't do request". It is a masterpiece and will always be a classic. Performances by Richard Dawson I (Killion) and Jesse Ventura (Capt. Freedom) compliment Arnie like a dream. As my good friend James Davis would say "I'm a Commando"
Arnie's the man March 1, 2004 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
He may not be the greatest actor but Arnie still manages to pull out a classic and The Running Man is no exception. A far fetched but gruesome look at the future in the game show world sees Arnie sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit. While trying to escape he is caught and forced on to a show where convicts must run, kill or be killed with audiences betting on the winner to receive prizes. With one of the greatest lines ever where Arnie says to the host(of course) " i'll be back" with which is answered "only in a re-run" he must beat the odds to survive and save the girl in order to stop lies and unlawful killings in " The Running Man".
