The fourth and, as far as I can tell, last A-Team DVD (excluding the ‘Ultimate’ package of course) is nowhere near as consistent as its predecessors.
‘The Rabbit Who Ate Las Vegas’ isn’t exactly what you’d expect from an A-Team episode, and perhaps therein lays the problem. The ‘going undercover’ in a casino motif is more noir thriller meets James Bond – a slightly incongruous setup for an A-Team episode. Nonetheless, it still manages to be an enjoyable piece of hokum, although it only really takes off when the tuxedos are discarded and our heroes get down to what they do best.
‘The A-Team Is Coming’ lowers the tone further. Once again, it is by no means a poor episode – there’s sufficient nonsense-action, especially towards the end, to ensure that this isn’t the case. However, aside from some early madness from Murdock and a classic sound bite from B.A. (‘This is 10 on a B.A. scale. 10 being total pain!’), the four leads are all curiously subdued. Hannibal in particular takes himself too seriously – in fact the episode as a whole is overly serious. The reason for this is hard to fathom. Perhaps the show is waving its right-wing flag more fiercely than usual, seeing as this episode deals with the Cold War. Whatever, this is decidedly average.
Fortunately, ‘Children of Jamestown’ is everything an excellent A-Team episode should be. The A-Team is captured (bar Murdock) by a religious cult after rescuing a girl from their clutches and put on a ‘trial of worthiness’. They inevitably escape and set about undoing the bad guys. Hannibal is back on form, ‘wisecracking’ all the way, as B.A. Mr. T ‘acts’ like only he can and the cliches arrive thick and fast. Unlike the rather bloodless showdown in the preceding episode, the sight of Hannibal wielding a flamethrower and Murdock lobbing dynamite from a helicopter to the sound of the classic theme tune is truly stirring.
This DVD is probably worth buying for the last episode alone. Although I sincerely hope that, if another A-Team DVD is released, the episode selection will be more prudent.

It's great to see the old team back again in these three episodes, The Rabbit Who Ate Las Vegas, The A-Team is Coming and Children of Jamestown. Although not the greatest of A-Team episodes, some dodgy Russian ascents in The A-Team is coming, they are action filled and the badies always get a licking.
