This is the second best of the Spaghetti Westerns, no one can argue over the flawless and utterably brilliant The Good The Bad And The Ugly. This however is seen as right up there with the best, a highly enjoyable and ruthless story brought onto the big screen with Sergio Leone's unique style. Clint Eastwood stars as Manco, a bounty killer out for the reward for the murderous bandit El Indio. He partners with Lee Van Cleef, an ageing war veteran, and both prepare a plan to capture the at times unstoppable villain.
The music in A Few Dollars More is incredible, beautifully composed by legend Ennio Morricone. The last scene ('When the chimes end') is one of the best I have ever seen and the purchase of this DVD should be simply for the ending alone. Eastwood is the cowboy of cowboys, an arrogant, clever and at times funny character. The film would not work without the experience from Lee Van Cleef, what a performance he gives.
As for the DVD itself, the picture is in widescreen but is occampanied with great sound, which helps in such an atmospheric film. There is a theatrical trailer from release in 1965 and a cool lizard crawling on the main menu. This is a DVD which is a must for fans of cinema, legendary characters and of music. It should be part of any respectable film collection out there.

Leone's second installment of the Dollars series has been lovingly restored here to DVD. A theatrical trailer, an excellent scene access menu, and even a scampering lizard on the menu screen are all provided here on Leone's second Dollars installment. Eastwood and Van Cleef provide a fantastic screen appearance that is full of chemistry and dark humour, and the classic script and storyline all add up to a western of historical proportions. Our two anti-heroes reluctantly team together in order to gain the bounty on a gang of bandits who are plotting to rob the bank of El Passo. The Plot thickens with the flash backs to the past of Van Cleef and his nemesis 'Angelico', who is the self destructive and evil gang leader. Eastwood is true to form, putting in one of his best western performances next to 'Unforgiven' and 'Fistfull of Dollars'. This time going by the name of 'Manco', Eastwood chews on his cheroot and guns down anyone who stands in his way. Eastwood's fast draw and Van Cleefs collection of some of the best small arms next to his 'Sabbatta' films, adds to the detail and excitement of this excellent western. Some of the best gunfights in movie history are present in this film, with Van Cleef and Angelico using the slowly faltering tunes of their pocket watch to signal the time to draw. "When the music stops..." This film would make a superb addition to any DVD collection.

I loved it when I was a teenager and still do. Bettered only by the superior storyline of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.Along with Fistful of Dollars, it started a new genre in western film-making - focusing on the violent realities of the time. Eastwood is mega-cool. Van Cleef is at his best. There are some wonderful cinematic shots... check Van Cleef riding into the sunset at the end. Klaus Kinski plays a devil,devil of a hunchback baddy. There is a study-shot of an Italian actor in the church-hideout scene(don't know his name but seem to remember him in Decameron) dressed as a Mexican, which is so real. He never speaks but his image has always stayed with me over the years. Make sure you dig out your toy guns before the show begins. Yippie yi yo ky-a.a.a.a

Behind its sequel (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly) this is the second best western ever made. Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef are in career best mode and they are a joy to watch. Listen for that classic, brilliant, musical score as well.
